Punter's Guide to Thoroughbred Tracks
Got its off hind leg up in the barriers, was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon before being cleared to start. Began awkwardly.
After beginning from the wide barrier, jockey M. Cahill attempted to obtain cover in a midfield position, however his mount was caught 4 wide approaching the 1100m, and he allowed his mount to stride forward to a position outside the leader leaving the 900m.
Brushed the running rail approaching the 1000m and, as a result, became awkward and shifted out bumping ATYAAF which in turn shifted out and bumped UBETWEDO.
Slow to begin. Improved onto the heels of NOWISEVERYTHING and had to be restrained approaching the 1100m.
When questioned by Stewards regarding the performance, jockey G. Colless advised that the gelding travelled well and was in a winning position upon straightening, however his mount proved slightly disappointing in the run to the finish. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding did not run out a strong 1350m today, and that the 60 kilogram weight impost may have had a bearing on its performance.
Steadied and shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of MAQUEREAU passing the 500m.
Slow to begin. Forced wider on the track MAJOR LUCK which was taken out by MAQUEREAU passing the 500m.
Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Overraced passing the 900m and had to be restrained from heels. When racing in restricted room approaching the 500m, the gelding shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of MAJOR LUCK and, as a result, became unbalanced and lost ground.
Shifted 4 wide to improve passing the 800m. Bumped on the hindquarters approaching the 500m.
Became fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected.
