After arriving at the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the request of its rider and cleared to start. Passing the 700m faltered and broke down and was retired from the event. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered an injury to its off foreleg. The horse was treated and transported to a nearby veterinary clinic for further examination and tests. Trainer’s representative Mr S. Johnston was advised that a veterinary clearance would need to be provided prior to the gelding racing again. A post-race swab sample was taken
