The nail was removed from the filly’s near hind hoof by the veterinary surgeon. The filly subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arriving at the barriers and was passed fit to start.

Commenced to race ungenerously near the 900m and was shifted wider on the track by its rider and, as a result, raced wide for the remainder. Commenced to weaken near the 400m, and raced in restricted room when SPALLINA hung out despite the efforts of its rider. Jockey E. Ljung observed on returning to scale that the throat lash on the gelding had come undone which she reported may have inconvenienced her mount throughout. She also reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout.
