The Royal 2018 Gatton Cup

The Gatton Cup is one of our region’s major race days. In the early years of the Gatton Cup, the 1950’s, the race day was not so successful. The Gatton Cup event known today, came back to life with increased prize money and significant local support.

This year, The Royal Hotel in Gatton will be the main race day sponsor of the Gatton Cup, a 2000 metre race, open to all ages for horses with $20,000 total prize money on offer.

Recently, the Club changed their name from Lockyer Valley Race Club to Lockyer Valley Turf Club, to be more aligned to the Club’s purpose of horse racing. As a Tier 1 Club, all races will be televised at venues across Australia on the day.

The Lockyer Valley business community continues their ongoing support for the 2 June race day with local businesses having naming rights of the main two races, The Royal Hotel Gatton Cup race and Cooks Transports Lockyer Lightning race. Thanks also goes to Best Employment, Blue Dogs Sports, Coughlins Accountants, Ozlav Plumbing, Rock Trade Industries and Wilson Brothers Finance for sponsoring the Gatton Cup race day as well.

Of course, a race day would not be complete without the high fashion stakes of “Fashions on the Field” sponsored by harry & Miss Tiff Boutique and Colonial Catering in Gatton. The Royal Gatton Cup on Saturday 2 June is a perfect opportunity to organise a group of friends, dress up in latest fashions and headwear and enter the Fashions on the Field competition.

You can also support food from the local Girl Guides canteen, beverages, totes and bookies to place the important bets on the day will all be available.

So if spending a day with friends, enjoying the outdoors, watching quality thoroughbred horses race on a country race track appeals, go to www.ipswichtickets.com.au and buy $10 early bird tickets today. ($15 entry at the gate on race day and kids under 16 free)
