General:

Due to Government advice around COVID-19, in accordance with GAR 51(10), the Stewards directed the Starter to box the greyhounds into the starting boxes in the following order, 1 & 5, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8 for all races.

Race 1 - TAB - LONG MAY WE PLAY NOVICE (1) 520m

1 Aristocratic Gal – bumped with another runner on several occasions when rounding the turn into the back straight and was hampered. Bumped with another runner on several occasions when rounding the turn into the home straight and was hampered.

 

3 Cheer Beckham – slow to begin. Tightened when rounding the turn into the back straight, was checked and lost ground.

 

4 Hopeful Lash – tightened when approaching the first turn and was momentarily hampered. Bumped with another runner on several occasions when rounding the turn into the back straight and was hampered. Bumped with another runner on several occasions when rounding the turn into the home straight and was hampered.

 

5 Love Game – marginally slow to begin. Checked off heels when leaving the back straight.

 

8 Bow Baby – permitted a weight-variation at kennelling of 1.2kg. Slow to begin. Bumped when entering the first turn, stumbled and almost fell, and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a back strain and was stood down for 7 days.

 

Race 2 - BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY NOVICE (2) 520m

2 Riverboat Queen – shifted outwards over the concluding stages, bumped with another runner and was momentarily hampered.

 

3 Kiss And Spin – bumped by another runner over the concluding stages and was momentarily hampered.

 

4 Big Whiskey – bumped shortly after the start and lost ground.

 

5 Slade – bumped shortly after the start and lost ground.

 

6 Blue Day – tightened shortly after the start and lost ground. Shifted outwards when entering the first turn, collided with another runner, was checked and lost ground.

 

7 Werina Ace – bumped shortly after the start and lost ground. Checked off heels when entering the first turn and lost ground.

 

8 Tough As Teak - stewards acceded to a request from trainer D. Russell to apply temporary strapping on the left hind track leg. Bumped shortly after the start and lost ground. Collided with another runner when entering the first turn, was checked and lost ground.

 

Race 3 - ORSON ALLEN @ METICULOUS LODGE GRADE 5 (1) 520m

2 Boscono – bumped with another runner when rounding the first turn and was momentarily hampered. Collided with another runner through the first turn, was checked and lost ground.

 

3 Columbian King – bumped with another runner when rounding the first turn, was checked and lost ground when shifting wider. Collided with another runner through the first turn, was checked and lost ground.

 

4 Ringbark Reign – marginally slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start. Improved onto the heels of another runner when approaching the first turn and was momentarily hampered.

 

5 Dynamo Waz – marginally slow to begin. Bumped shortly after the start. Improved onto the hindquarters of another runner when approaching the first turn, was checked and lost ground. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the back straight and lost ground.

 

6 Brooklyn Miss – marginally slow to begin. Contacted on the heels by another runner when approaching the first turn, was checked and lost ground. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the back straight and lost ground.

 

7 Slipknot - stewards acceded to a request from trainer R. Enright to apply temporary strapping on both hocks. Marginally slow to begin.

 

8 Special Cyndie – marginally slow to begin. Collided with another runner through the first turn, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.

 

Race 4 - SENNACHIE @ STUD - STEVE WHITE GRADE 5 (2) 520m

2 Wazz's Out – slow to begin. Improved onto the hindquarters of another runner when approaching the first turn, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.

 

3 Tevita Shadow – slow to begin. Improved onto the hindquarters of another runner when approaching the first turn, was severely checked and lost ground.

 

4 Townson Beach – shifted outwards when approaching the first turn, bumped with other runners and lost ground.

 

5 Wildash Jakey - stewards acceded to a request from trainer B. Giltinan to apply temporary strapping on the left hind track leg.

 

6 Fine Silhouette – slow to begin. Tightened for room when approaching the first turn, was contacted on the hindquarters, severely checked and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed suspected fracture to the nearside wrist and was stood down for 28 days. The greyhound was provided pain relief. Stewards will follow up with trainer B. Hazelgrove on the outcome of further veterinary assessment. Mr Hazelgrove advised Stewards consideration would be given to retiring the greyhound as a pet. Further, Stewards advised Mr Hazelgrove a veterinary certificate must be provided prior to being permitted to race again.

 

UPDATE 22/05/20: Trainer B. Hazelgrove advised stewards, upon inspection the morning after racing, the greyhound was not exhibiting signs of a serious injury and was weight-bearing on the nearside wrist. Mr Hazelgrove will provide further updates after a subsequent veterinary examination.

 

7 Ringbark Jen – marginally slow to begin. Tightened for room when approaching the first turn, bumped by another runner and lost ground. Bumped with another runner over the concluding stages.

 

8 Sequana – slow to begin. Tightened for room when approaching the first turn, bumped by another runner and was momentarily hampered. Bumped with another runner over the concluding stages.

 

Race 5 - FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE MIXED 4/5 710m

2 Angelic Blue – tightened and bumped when entering the first turn, checked and lost ground.

 

4 Rasheda – tightened and bumped when entering the first turn, checked and lost ground.

 

6 Pearlie Queen – very slow to begin. Checked

 

7 Logan Belle – tightened for room approaching the first turn, was checked and fell, taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow-up with the post-race condition of the greyhound.

 

UPDATE 22/05/20: Trainer P. Evans advised Stewards the greyhound, upon veterinary examination the morning after racing, was found to have a fracture in the tail and would be rested for a month. Stewards advised Mr Evans the greyhound would need a veterinary clearance prior to racing.

 

8 Sandave Gypsy – tightened and bumped when entering the first turn, checked and lost ground.

 

Race 6 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND WINTER CHASE (L) HEAT 1 OPEN 600m

1 Riley Allen - stewards acceded to a request from trainer B. Kitchener to apply temporary strapping on the left hind track leg. Checked off heels through the first turn and lost ground. Raced wide in the front straight on the first occasion.

 

3 Swift Dancer - Checked off heels through the first turn and lost ground.

 

4 Shilo - Raced wide in the front straight on the first occasion.

 

5 Zipping Cosmo – bumped through the first turn and was momentarily hampered.

 

Race 7 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND WINTER CHASE (L) HEAT 2 OPEN 600m

2 Infrared Lad – checked off heels through the first turn. Tightened for room and hampered when entering the turn out of the back straight. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the home straight.

 

4 Sir Pantsalot – marginally slow to begin. Tightened for room when approaching the turn out of the front straight and lost ground.

 

6 Pete's Dream – bumped at the start and lost ground.

 

7 Zipping Blondie - stewards acceded to a request from trainer B. Kitchener to apply temporary strapping on the left hind track leg. Bumped at the start and lost ground.

 

Race 8 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND WINTER SPRINT (L) FINAL OPEN 520m

4 Hammer Down – shifted outwards at the start, collided with another runner, and lost ground. Bumped with another when rounding the turn into the back straight, checked and lost ground. A post-race veterinary revealed an injury to the offside hind leg was stood down for 7 days.

 

5 Stinger Noir – buffeted between runners at the start and lost ground.

 

6 Shakey Diesel – bumped by another runner at the start and lost ground. Bumped with another runner entering the first turn.

 

8 Cooper Dooper – slow to begin. Bumped with another when rounding the turn into the back straight, checked and lost ground.

 

Race 9 - MOTORHUB MIXED 3/4 520m

2 One Two Win – bumped at the start. Bumped when entering the first turn and lost ground.

 

3 Limited Edition – bumped by another runner through the first turn and lost ground.

 

4 No Clyde Needed – bumped when entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked off heels when entering the back straight.

 

5 It Ain't Billy – tightened for room and checked entering the first turn and lost considerable ground.

 

6 Dynamic Bill – very slow to begin. Bumped by another runner through the first turn and lost ground.

 

7 Mepunga Zeus – tightened for room and checked entering the first turn and lost considerable ground.

 

Race 10 - SKY RACING MA5 520m

1 Pittsburgh Phil – tightened for room, checked and lost ground when entering the first turn. Continued to lose ground through the back straight and eventually failed to finish the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hip support and was stood down for 28 days. Trainer R. Patching advised the greyhound would undergo a wind-down period and recovery before being retired to the Greyhound Adoption Program. Trainer R. Patching was nonetheless advised the greyhound would need a veterinary clearance prior to racing.

 

3 Kealoah – checked off heels approaching the first turn and lost ground.

 

5 Yuken Pay Me – bumped when entering the first turn and shifted wider. Bumped with another runner when rounding the turn out of the back straight and lost ground.

 

7 Burrum Boy – bumped at the start and lost ground. Bumped with another runner when rounding the turn out of the back straight and lost ground.

 

8 Oblivinator - bumped when entering the first turn and shifted wider.
