Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

Capalaba

Date: Tuesday 4th November 2025

Track:(Good)

Weather: (Fine)

Stewards: D.Broxham, S.Barr, M.Fernholz

General:

Wednesday 22/10/2025 Race 5 at Capalaba

Immediately following the declaration of All Clear for the race, the Stewards identified that the lure appeared to be at a relatively short distance from the lead greyhound at approximately the 250m mark. This observation was promptly reported to the Chief Steward for review.

Chief Stewards review:

-            The lure distance from the lead greyhound at the 250m mark was confirmed to be within the required five metres, as stipulated under Greyhounds Australasia Rule (GAR) 109(1).

-            The shorter lure distance created circumstances that required the Stewards to consider whether it was open to them to declare a No Race under GAR 109(3).

-            However, as the race had already been declared All Clear and given the overall circumstances of the race, no amendment or correction to the event outcome was warranted under GAR 115 and GAR 116.

-            The Chief Steward reviewed the procedures for race replay assessments at Capalaba and the timing and method of communication between the Lure Driver and Stewards post-race.

-            To enhance decision-making prior to declaring All Clear in future meetings, the Chief Steward has directed that all race replays be reviewed in the Stewards’ room rather than the viewing tower.

-            The Deputy Chief Steward has provided instruction and education to Capalaba GRC staff regarding their obligations, specifically the requirement for the Lure Driver and other personnel to immediately report any matters that may need to be brought to the attention of the Stewards.
