5 Tarawi Orca – Shifted in and turned his head inwards in the direction of another runner at the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside elbow and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 7 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Jayson Valentine regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 200m. After reviewing the video footage and hearing Mr Valentine’s submissions, Stewards invoked GAR125 Failing to Pursue by reason of injury and stood down Tarawi Orca for 7 days at Capalaba plus the completion of a satisfactory trial.

6 Cyber Attack – Slow to begin. Weakened in its action at the 200m taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. When questioned over today’s performance, trainer Patrick Lavis advised that the greyhound has limited racing ability and only trialled once at the track. After hearing Mr Lavis’ submissions and watching the video replay, Stewards invoked GAR129 Unsatisfactory Performance. Cyber Attack must complete a satisfactory trial prior to racing next.
