GENERAL

 

 

Race 1 – Maiden 431m

Even start.  Rounding the turn into the back straight TABBERER and WILDASH WIZARDS bumped.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight BASIN BOGIE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight TABBERER shifted out and collided with BASIN BOGIE causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Shortly after TABBERER contacted the hindquarters of BASIN BOGIE causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.

 

Race 2 – Novice 520m

IMA PIXIE, RED RIVER ROSE and MAGIC SPARKLE were best to begin.  MECHA BALA was slow out.  Shortly after the start BOGIE BEKIM and SHINTARO STAR bumped causing both greyhounds to be hampered.  Approaching the winning post on the 1st occasion BLITZ ‘EM contacted the hindquarters of RED RIVER ROSE causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight MECHA BALE contacted the running rail and lost considerable ground.  Leaving the back straight LEGACY CHIEF contacted the hindquarters of MAGIC SPARKLE, was checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight BLITZ ‘EM checked off the heels of LEGACY CHIEF and was hampered.

 

The greyhound MECHA BALE was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

 

Race 3 – 5th Grade 431m

KLOEIS PRIDE and LAKODA DAWN were best to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight LEHMAN BENZ and ROYAL ALBERT were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after DAYSEAS RIGG was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the back straight LEHMAN BENZ contacted the hindquarters of ULTIMATE STAR causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  In the back straight ULTIMATE STAR and LEHMAN BENZ both raced wide.

 

Race 4 – 5th Grade 431m

SOUTHERN FLOSS was best to begin.  SMART HORNET was momentarily tightened for racing room shortly after the start, hampered and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight TARA MARRIE and ROSCO BANG BANG collided causing both greyhounds to be checked.  Shortly after ROSCO BANG BANG contacted the hindquarters of SOUTHERN FLOSS causing that greyhound to be checked and lose ground.  Leading into the back straight SMART HORNET was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the back straight SOUTHERN FLOSS and ROSCO BANG BANG bumped causing both greyhounds to be hampered.  Leaving the back straight ROSCO BANG BANG checked off the heels of SOUTHERN FLOSS causing it to be hampered.  Approaching the turn into the front straight SHAYLOR NORRIS and ROSCO BANG BANG bumped causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.

 

Race 5 – 4/5th Grade 431m

Even start.  Shortly after the start BEAR FOR BREAKY, BULL TITAN, WALLY WHO CALLS and EMKAY BENZ raced tight resulting in BEAR FOR BREAKY and EMKAY BENZ being hampered with BULL TITAN and WALLY WHO CALLS being checked and losing ground.  BASHFUL BABE raced wide in the back straight.  Leaving the back straight INSIDE PASS was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  EMKAY BENZ and BASHFUL BABE both raced wide rounding the home turn.

 

The greyhound EMKAY BENZ was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. G Pettersen reported that the greyhound normally begins very quickly and has led in its previous starts however, when it received some inconvenience shortly after the start the greyhound was hampered and was not able to lead.  He further stated that EMKAY BENZ has had a tendency to race wide round the final turn at Ipswich and he will be taking the necessary actions to correct that trait.  Stewards noted Mr. Pettersen’s explanation however, advised him they expected the greyhound to race in a consistent manner.

 

Race 6 – 5th Grade Heat 1 520m

SNOWBALL BAZZA and SPLIT SYSTEM were best to begin.  Leaving the front straight GIFTED ANGEL was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

Race 7 – 5th Grade  Heat 2 520m

FASHION ADVICE, MURBAH GOLD and HURRICANE CHANCE were best to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight HURRICANE CHANCE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight HURRICANE CHANCE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after FYRE GAL and SIDBO collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight SIDBO and HURRICANE CHANCE collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight SIDBO was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

Race 8 – RQ Young Guns Final 520m

KING SIZED, KINKOCH BEACH, SHOW BOUND and BOOTY BEACH were best to begin.  Leaving the front straight SHOW BOUND was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight KINLOCH BEACH checked off the heels of KING SIZED, was checked and lost ground.  SHOW BOUND was checked as a result of this incident.  In the back straight SHOW BOUND checked off the heels of KINLOCH BEACH, was checked and lost ground.  In the back straight SMART SPIRIT was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  KINLOCH BEACH raced wide rounding the home turn.

 

Race 9 – 5th Grade 431m

COLD HARD TRUTH, OVER HERE and GUNNER were best to begin.  HAY YOU BOY and TINY TURBO collided shortly after the start.  GUNNER faltered leading into the back straight and was retired from the race.  Rounding the turn into the back straight COLD HARD TRUTH and OVER HERE collided resulting in OVER HERE to be checked and lose ground.

 

The greyhound OVER HERE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Trainer Mr. P Ruetschi explained that the greyhound is a on pace greyhound and usually begins well however, after receiving a check leading into the back straight when the greyhound collided with COLD HARD TRUTH and then being hampered in the back straight when GUNNER retired from the event it may have suffered some inconvenience when the greyhound bumped HAY YOU BOY leading out of the back straight was in his view the contributing factors for OVER HERE not running on over the concluding stages.  He further stated that the greyhound has not performed well on a rain affected track which was presented in tonight’s event.  Mr. P Ruetschi stated that OVER HERE was having its 2nd start back from a spell and he expected the greyhound to improve with further racing.  Stewards noted his explanation however, advised him that they will be closely monitoring OVER HERE’s performances in future events.

 

The greyhound GUNNER was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side hock and was humanely euthanised.  A post mortem swab sample was taken from the greyhound.

 

Race 10 – 5th Grade 431m

KAMILAROI DUK was best to begin.  STOLE MY HEART was slow out.  Approaching the turn into the back straight DRAGON DANCER was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  HOBO JANE and GLORIOUS WINTER were checked as a consequence.  HOBO JANE raced wide rounding the home turn.
