greyhound SPRING PHOENIX performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial, over a
distance of 431m, in a time of 25.68, and is now cleared to race all tracks. |

1 – 431M COST A PENNY
and MADAM KARMAR were best to begin, with GALWAY CLARA marginally slow to
begin. Shortly after the start, BONITA
DE KAHN was tightened for room and checked.
Approaching the first turn, STORM POWER, RISING BEYOND and MADAM
KARMAR were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees. Entering the first turn, COST A PENNY and
WILD SPARK collided, resulting in both runners to be checked. Rounding the turn into the back straight,
STORM POWER checked off heels.
Approaching the turn out of the back straight MADAM KARMAR was bumped
by another runner and hampered as a consequence. STORM POWER raced wide rounding the turn
into the home straight. Over the
concluding stages, RISING BEYOND and WILD SPARK bumped on a number of
occasions and were hampered. The greyhound
MADAM KARMAR underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent
injuries were found. |

SKY RACING MAIDEN
HEAT 2 – 431M SPRING
REBEL was marginally slow to begin.
Shortly after the start, SUPER CETTE was tightened for room and
checked. Soon after, NOIRE DREAM and
HARDLY NORMAL collided and were checked.
Approaching the first turn, LADYLIKE GRACE contacted the heels of another
runners was momentarily hampered.
Entering the first turn NOIRE DREAM was bumped by another runner,
severely checked and lost ground.
SUPER CETTE, which was trailing, improved onto the heels of NOIRE
DREAM, resulting in that runner to be severely checked and lost further
ground. LADYLIKE GRACE, which was
trailing those runners, was checked as a consequence. CYNDIE SAID, HARDLY NORMAL and NOIRE DREAM
all raced wide in the home straight. The
greyhound NOIRE DREAM underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was
found to have sustained an injury to the chest muscle and was stood down for
a period of 10 days. |

was best to begin. Shortly after the
start, SPRING RITCHIE and ZABDON ZINGER were tightened for room and
momentarily hampered. Entering the first
turn, BELLEEK contacted the heels of SAID BILLY, resulting in both runners to
be checked. Rounding the turn into the
back straight, MAGIC CODE and FARMOR MACKACKEN collided, resulting in both
runners to be checked. BALLYMAC JAY,
which was trailing, was checked as a consequence. Shortly after, ZABDON ZINGER and BELLEEK
bumped, resulting in both runners to be hampered. Entering the back straight, SAID BILLY
contacted the heels of SPRING RITCHIE, resulting in both runners to be
checked. Entering the turn out of the
back straight, ZABDON ZINGER was tightened for racing room and momentarily
hampered. |

ALPHA 390 FINANCE NOVICE – 431M Even start.
Shortly after the start, LITTLE LUCK shifted inwards and bumped FULL
OF TRICKS, resulting in that runner to be slow into stride. Entering the first turn, CAWBOURNE FAWNY
shifted out across heels and collided with LITTLE LUCK, resulting in both
runners to be checked. BONDI GIRL and
ROSDE MATAO, which were racing to their outside, were both checked as a
consequence. Entering the back
straight, LITTLE LUCK shifted out and bumped ROSDUE MATAO, resulting in that
runner to be checked. In the back
straight, SNOW GIRL was tightened for room and checked. Entering the turn out of the back straight,
CAWBOURNE FAWNY and FULL OF TRICKS were tightened for room, checked and
shifted outwards. LITTLE LUCK, which
was trailing, checked outwards to avoid those runners’ heels. Rounding the turn into the front straight,
BONDI GIRL collided with FULL OF TRICKS, resulting in that runner to be
checked. Entering the front straight,
BONDI GIRL checked off heels. LITTLE
LUCK raced wide in the back straight. |

start, with the exception of WAYCOL BILL which began awkwardly, shifted out
and lost ground. Shortly after the
start, HYPO SHOW and LILY’S BEAN bumped, resulting in both runners to be
hampered. Rounding the turn into the
back straight, FANCY FREEL checked off heels and lost ground. In the back straight, LILY’S BEAN shifted
outwards and collided with SASSY OAKS, resulting in that runner to be
checked. Rounding the turn into the
front straight, SASSY OAKS shifted outwards and collided with LILY’S BEAN,
resulting in both runners to be checked. |

start. Approaching the first turn,
NASH TATO was tightened for room and checked.
Entering the first turn, all runners, with the exception of SENOR’S
HEIR and NASH TATO, were tightened for room and checked to varying degrees as
a consequence. NASH TATO, which was
trailing, was checked to avoid those runners’ heels. Entering the turn out of the back straight,
SPRING RUBY was tightened for room and checked. Rounding the turn into the home straight,
SPRING SHELLEY shifted outwards and collided with NASH TATO, resulting in
both runners to be severely checked. |

MIXED 3/4 – 431M SPRING ROY was marginally slow to begin. Approaching the first turn, LIGHTNING WHITE
was tightened for room and checked.
Entering the first turn, SPRING ELLIE and RICHMOND ROAD were tightened
for room and severely checked.
LIGHTNING WHITE, which was trailing, was checked as a
consequence. Rounding the turn into the
back straight, SPRING ELLIE shifted outwards and collided with RICHMOND ROAD,
resulting in both runners to be severely checked and to lose considerable
ground. Rounding the turn into the
home straight, LIGHTNING WHITE checked off heels. The greyhound RICHMOND ROAD underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. The greyhound SPRING ELLIE underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off
side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days. |

STERNBERG VET SURGEON MIXED 4/5 – 520M Even start. Shortly after the start, STRUDEL shifted
outwards and tightened the running of GOT THERE and WERINA LIGHTNING,
resulting in both of those runners to be hampered. In the front straight, on the first
occasion, TOPAZ TAN and RULE THE ROAD were tightened for room and
checked. Entering the first turn,
TOPAZ TAN checked off heels. Through
the turn into the home straight, GOT THERE was tightened for room and
momentarily hampered. WERINA LIGHTNING
raced wide for the majority of the event. |

5TH GRADE (3) – 431M Even start, with the exception of RATHNAIT, which was
slow to begin. Entering the first
turn, RAZZIAI RAIN and LA BAMBA collided, resulting in both runners to be
checked. Through the first turn, HAD
BETTER DAZE and DOUBLE OAK collided, resulting in both runners to be
checked. SPRING IVAN, which was
trailing, shifted out to avoid those runners’ heels and collided with RAZZIAI
RAIN, who in turn, collided with LA BAMBA, resulting in all runners to be
checked and to lose ground. Entering
the back straight, DOUBLE OAK shifted inwards and tightened the running of
HAD BETTER DAZE, resulting in that greyhound to be checked. Shortly after, DOUBLE OAK collided with
RATHNAIT, resulting in DOUBLE OAK to be checked. SPRING IVAN raced wide in the back
straight. Entering the turn out of the
back straight, SPRING IVAN shifted inwards and collided with HAD BETTER DAZE,
resulting in that runner to be checked.
Rounding the turn into the home straight, HAD BETTER DAZE shifted
outwards and collided with LA BAMBA, resulting in both runners to be
hampered. |

SKY RACING 5PW – 431M Even start.
Shortly after the start, DAD’S THE WORD and BROKEN YOLK collided,
resulting in both runners to be checked.
Approaching the first turn, GIFTED ANGEL and MULROONEY were tightened
for room, checked and lost ground.
Through the turn into the back straight, NO LAYING BACK and PARIS
QUEEN bumped, resulting in both runners to be hampered. BROKEN YOLK raced wide in the back
straight. Entering the turn out of the
back straight, VELOCITY RADINKA improved onto the heel of DAD’S THE WORD,
resulting in both runners to be severely checked, fall, and take no further
competitive part in the event. NO
LAYING BACK, which was trailing, was severely checked as a consequence, also
fell and took no further competitive part in the event. BROKEN YOLK, which was trailing all of
those runners, was severely impeded as a consequence. The greyhound VELOCITY RADINKA underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. The greyhound NO LAYING BACK underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near
hind toe and was stood down for a period of 7 days. The greyhound DAD’S THE WORD underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off
fore leg and was stood down for a period of 10 days. |
