Race Reports

 

Race 1 – DAN MURPHY YAMANTO MAIDEN – 431M

 

Approaching the 1st turn, WINX ROSE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, ZABDON ZINGER and LOW IMPACT were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight, BIG MAN RUSTY improved onto the heels of BAG BANG TEXADA, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  At the same time ZABDON ZINGER was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, LOW IMPACT and BIG MAN RUSTY collide, resulting in BIG MAN RUSTY to be checked and to lose ground.  WINX ROSE, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Entering the front straight, ZABDON ZINGER and LOW IMPACT collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  BIG MAN RUSTY and WINX ROSE, which were racing to the outside of LOW IMPACT, were both checked as a result of this incident and lost ground. 

 

 

Race 2 – DON EVANS PLUMBING MAIDEN – 520M

 

SONIC BOOM was slow to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight, MADAM KARMAR was tightened for racing room, shifted in and collided with EYE HATE CAKE, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  GOTCHA GIFT, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight, WHO NOSE SIZE and COLOR PURPLE collided on a number of occasions, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  EYE HATE CAKE raced wide in the back straight and again in the front straight. 

 

Race 3 – WEST MORETON PET FOODS NOVICE – 431M

 

KENNY SAID WAIT was tightened for racing room, shortly after the start, and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, DAVE THE RAVE, IMPATIENT KID and SANDSHOE all raced tight, resulting in all greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Entering the back straight, POLLY’S GIFT was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the back straight, SMILING BLONDE shifted out which checked the running of POLLY’S GIFT.  DAVE THE RAVE raced wide in the back straight. 

 

Race 4 – ULTRA-TUNE BOOVAL NOVICE – 520M

 

Shortly after the start, RED HOT GOSSIP was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight, GALWAY CHEETA and ROAD SIDE ASSIST were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, KANOJO checked across heels and collided with RED HOT GOSSIP, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  GALWAY CHEETA, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight, GALWAY LUDWIG shifted out.  At the same time, KANOJO was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  GALWAY CHEETA raced wide in the front straight.

 

Race 5 – BEST FRIENDS WEST IPSWICH 5TH GRADE (1) – 431M

 

Shortly after the start, RAPID STATE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, RAPID STATE and HAD BETTER DAZE collide, resulting in HAD BETTER DAZE to be checked and to lose ground.  Leaving the back straight, SASSY OAKS was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  At the same time, HAD BETTER DAZE and FIVE GALLON HAT collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground. 

 

The greyhound RAPID STATE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – LADY TRAINERS FINAL 5TH GRADE – 520M

 

ZAZU’S HEADACHE was slow to begin.  Entering the back straight, ZAZU’S HEADACHE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the back straight, DIAMOND WINX checked across heels and lost ground. 

 

Race 7 – BUNNINGS WEST IPSWICH MIXED 4/5TH GRADE – 520M

 

Shortly after the start, ALLPA MAMA and PRATER’S ACE collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  In the front straight, on the 1st occasion, ROI LEAR KAHN shifted in, which hampered the running of CRAZY BELLA.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight, MAN OF LEISURE and PRATER’S PROMISE collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, GOT THERE and ALLPA MAMA collide. 

 

The greyhound CRAZY BELLA underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned over the performance of CRAZY BELLA, trainers’ representative Mr J Aylward, stated that CRAZY BELLA races best when leading,  and was unable to gain an early lead as it  had sustained minor interference in the early stages, in his view contributed to the its overall finishing position.  He stated that he did not support the greyhound in tonight’s race as it was a $1-40 favourite on UBET.  He further stated that the greyhound had worked well during the week with no interruptions to its preparation and expected it to lead and win. 

 

Race 8 – BEAT BREAST CANCER CUP OPEN FINAL – 732M

 

Approaching the turn out of the back straight, on the 1st occasion, RED HOT SPUR and RING HIM collide, resulting in RING HIM to be checked and to lose ground.  GALWAY PANTHER, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.

 

When questioned over the performance of RING HIM, trainer Mr V Osborn, expressed his disappointment as the greyhound had raced well over the 600m, and he was expecting the greyhound to manage the distance.  He said that the greyhound races best when leading, and after receiving a check on the 1st turn, he was of the view that this may have contributed to its overall performance.  The greyhound RING HIM underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 9 – IPSWICH HOSPITAL FOUNDATION MIXED 4/5TH GRADE – 431M

 

Approaching the 1st turn, BROTHER TREVOR was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, MASTER BULLET, AMARETTO HAYZE and EMPIRE REIGN were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight, PRINCESS EMILY commenced to give ground to finish a considerable distance from the remainder of the field. 

 

The greyhound PRINCESS EMILY underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

 

The greyhound MASTER BULLET underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 10 – BREAST SCREEN QUEENSLAND 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

 

DEMON FURY was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn, TEN GALLON HAT, BET YOU WILL and HONEY’S PRINCESS all raced tight, resulting in all greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Entering the front straight, TEN GALLON HAT was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.
