Acting in accordance with the QRIC Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended immediately after the running of race 2 due to observed lightning within the designated safety zone. Del Greco – Eased abruptly after the race prior to the entrance to the catching pen and escaped the course proper under the running rail to the infield prior to the entrance to the catching pen. Del Greco was subsequently caught by a catcher on the opposite side of the infield. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards questioned trainer Chris Brydon regarding Del Greco’s behaviours after the race. Mr Brydon informed the Stewards that he would not be nominating the greyhound anymore for circle races and would restrict the greyhound to only straight track racing. Taking into consideration Mr Brydon’s submissions regarding nomination restrictions and the nature of the circumstances of Del Greco placing itself into an unsatisfactory position after the race, Stewards ordered that Del Greco be restricted from competing on circle tracks until the completion of a satisfactory trial. The requirement for two catchers on straight tracks will be reviewed at future starts. |

Cool It – underwent a veterinary examination at the trainer’s request, which revealed a left fore wrist injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. |

Zipping Saigo – collided with another runner when rounding the home turn. Stewards were comfortably satisfied this was a racing incident and it did not breach any rules. |

|
|
Easy Beat – faltered shortly after the start and then lost ground from the turn out of the front straight to eventually finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the right pin muscle. Trainer’s representative A. Dillon advised the greyhound would be restricted to short course racing and if an improvement was not found, then consideration would be given to retirement. |
