1 Cyclone Alfie – Turned its head inwards towards another runner for several strides rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Robert Cooke regarding the greyhound’s racing manners rounding the home turn. After reviewing the footage and hearing Mr Cooke’s submissions, Stewards invoked GAR124 Failing to Pursue (1st offence) and stood down Cyclone Alfie for 28 days at Q2 Parklands plus the completion of a satisfactory trial.
5 Flaming Valora – Made heavy contact with the running rail in the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
7 Cheeky Belgin – Eased and turned its head outwards towards other runners leaving the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the nearside pin muscle and under the provisions of GAR 41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 7 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Peter O’Reilly regarding the greyhound’s racing manners leaving the first turn. After reviewing the footage and hearing Mr O’Reilly’s submissions, Stewards invoked GAR125 Failing to Pursue with injury and stood down Cheeky Belgin for 7 days at Q2 Parklands plus the completion of a satisfactory trial. |

6 Sleek Karma – Checked rounding the first turn and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor spike wound to the near hindleg. No stand down time was given by the on-course veterinarian.
8 Aston Piston – Bumped with another runner rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. |
