Track: Good

Race 1 – LADBROKES RACING EXTRAS IN MULTI GRADE 6 520m

Ohtani Magic – from a wide position approaching the first turn, Ohtani Magic shifted abruptly towards the running rail and had its heels galloped on by Won’t Be Long, which was trailing to its inside, causing Ohtani Magic to become unbalanced and fall and take no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the lumbo-sacral region, with a 14-day stand down period imposed.

Race 2 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND MA5 (1) 520m

No reportable incidents.

Race 3 – LADBROKES POPULAR SRM NMW (1) 520m

Huckleberry Hugo – when leading on the rail rounding the turn into the back straight, Huckleberry Hugo turned its head outwards, visibly eased, and then shifted outwards towards Shima Polly, hampering that greyhound. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards questioned trainer Peter O’Reilly regarding the greyhound’s actions through the turn into the back straight. After considering Mr O’Reilly’s submissions, reviewing the available replay angles, and taking into account their own observations, Stewards determined to impose the provisions of GAR 124 – Failing to Pursue against Huckleberry Hugo. As this was the greyhound’s fourth (4th) offence, it will be stood down from racing for three (3) months at all tracks and must complete two satisfactory trials prior to again being nominated, pursuant to GAR 127.

Race 4 – ROSEWOOD VETERINARY SERVICE NMW (2) 520m

No reportable incidents.

Race 5 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY OPEN 710m

Firethorn – was a beaten favourite. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards questioned trainer Mark Maroney regarding the greyhound’s performance in tonight’s event, particularly given it started as an odds-on favourite. Mr Maroney advised that he had expected Firethorn to be competitive, having performed well in recent trials and races over shorter distances. He added that he was unsure why the greyhound had started at such short odds and had not placed any wager himself.

Race 6 – INDEPENDENT LIQUOR GROUP GRADE 5 710m

No reportable incidents.

Race 7 – ENGINEERING BY STP CONSULTANTS MIXED 4/5 520m

No reportable incidents.

Race 8 – LADBROKES ODDS SURGE 4/5 GRADE HEAT 1 MIXED 4/5 600m

No reportable incidents.

Race 9 – SEN TRACK 4/5 GRADE HEAT 2 MIXED 4/5 600m

No reportable incidents.

Race 10 – GORSKI ENGINEERING GRADE 5 520m

Stewards delayed the declaration of All Clear to review the video replay in relation to the start (GAR 110). Stewards established that the starting lids had not fully seated into the inside latch, creating a narrow gap beneath the lids into which the toes of Bathtub Splasher (Box 1) were able to fit marginally. After reviewing the available replay angles and considering their own observations, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that no greyhound was materially prejudiced or advantaged in a manner that affected the outcome of the event. Accordingly, All Clear was declared on the Judge’s semaphored placings of 4 – 8 – 7 – 2.

Race 11 – WWW.THEQ.AU MA5 (2) 520m

No reportable incidents.
