Cumbria Benny – lost ground over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any apparent abnormalities.
Strut – shifted outwards on the turn out of the front straight and collided with other runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed injuries to the nearside pin muscle and offside hip support. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards questioned trainer Jeff Crawford regarding the racing manners of Strut on the turn out of the front straight. After considering Mr Crawford’s submissions, reviewing the available replay angles, and their own observations, the Stewards determined under the provisions of GAR 125 to issue a first time only offence penalty against Strut for Failing to pursue by reason of injury, when the greyhound had turned its head outwards on the turn out of the front straight and subsequently found to be injured. The greyhound must complete a satisfactory trial prior to next nominating. |
