Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

General: The track was harrowed on Saturday and as a result, race times for tonight’s meeting may be slower than normal.

Race 1 - JEFF LYNCH MIXED 3/4 380m  

1 Timma Turtle Two – Turned its head outwards on numerous occasions rounding the home turn and, in the home, straight making head and muzzle contact with the runner to its outside. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Greta Thomson regarding the racing actions of the greyhound in the home straight. After reviewing the video footage and hearing Miss Thomson’s submissions, Stewards invoked GAR123 Marring (2^nd offence) and stood down Timma Turtle Two for 28 days at all tracks. The greyhound will need to pass a satisfactory trial prior to any future nomination being accepted.

Race 2 - GARBUTT NEWS & POST OFFICE GRADE 4 (1) 380m

5 Blue Marine – Fell in the catching pen after the race had concluded. A post-race veterinary examination revealed split webbing to the off foreleg and under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 5 days.

Race 3 - CHEAPA AUTO SPARES GRADE 4 (2) 380m

No matters of concern to Stewards.

Race 4 - ENGINEERING INDUSTRIES AUSTRALIA 5PW 498m

3 Princess Toes – Late scratching at 5:56 pm pursuant to GAR 92(2) when the greyhound was found to have an injury to the nearside hindleg during kennelling. The greyhound has been stood down for 3 days.

Race 5 - LOUND SEAFOOD GRADE 5 498m

No matters of concern to Stewards.

Race 6 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICES MIXED 4/5 498m

7 Mr. Takeover – Slow to begin. Checked off heels rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hamstrings and under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 7 days.

8 Tank Engine – Severely checked rounding the turn off the back straight losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 7 - T.G.B.O.T.A MIXED 3/4 498m

No matters of concern to Stewards.

Race 8 - TOWNSVILLE GRAND PRIX FINAL OPEN 498m

3 Custard’s Son – Checked off heels and contacted the running rail rounding the first turn losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 9 - PARTY CREEK KENNELS FFA 380m

No matters of concern to Stewards.

Race 10 - BOODY RACING MIXED 4/5 380m

4 Total Media Ban – Late scratching at 5:56 pm pursuant to GAR 92(2) when the greyhound was found to have an injury to the offside front leg during kennelling. The greyhound has been stood down for 3 days.

Race 11 – PETER GROVES GRADE 5 (1) 380m

5 Custody – Severely checked rounding the first turn losing considerable ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

7 Federal Mickey – Dragged down by another runner and fell approaching the home turn, taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to the offside hindleg and under the provisions of GAR41(1) the greyhound has been stood down for 14 days.

Race 12 - HICKMOTT KENNELS GRADE 5 (2) 380m

No matters of concern to Stewards.
