Stewards delayed the All Clear to review the race replay in relation to the distance of the lure throughout the event. It was established that shortly after the start Daysea’s Rory was bumped and subsequently fell taking no further competitive part in the event. Rounding the turn into the back straight Stewards identified the distance of the lure was inside 5-metres as provisioned under GAR 109(1). Further, when leaving the back straight and rounding the turn out of the back straight, the lure distance extended beyond 8-metres as provisioned under GAR 109(1). After carefully reviewing all available angles and their live observations, Stewards were satisfied that no greyhound had been advantaged or disadvantaged during the event and permitted a variance in accordance with GAR 109(2). Stewards therefore declared All Clear on the judges’ semaphored numbers of 7 – 8 – 6 – 1.
3 Daysea’s Rory – (Beaten favourite) Bumped and fell shortly after the start. Took no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
