Following an inquiry into a stable inspection conducted on the 14th April 2022 Trainer M Currie was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR101(1) in that he did have a horse trained by himself stabled at a location other than his registered stabling address’s.

Trainer T Pascoe was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR36(6) for failing to scratch the dually accepted LINE UP by the prescribed time.

Race 1: ENTERPRISE LEGALL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1300m

BEARHUG- Fractious in the barrier.

EPICURIOUS- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Shifted wider and commenced a forward move approaching the 600m. Stewards questioned Co-Trainer C Geran into the seemingly improved performance of the mare. Trainer Geran advised that, in his opinion, the mare is inconsistent in her performances but the stable has always had a high opinion of its general ability and with sound metro form in the past were not entirely surprised by todays performance. Stewards noted the explanation.

HARMONY NATION- Due to a clerical error may not have been displayed as wearing blinkers in some form guides, this was incorrect and the gelding raced in blinkers. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement and social media address. Momentarily crowded approaching the 800m and bumped the inside running rail becoming unbalanced and losing some ground. App O Webb advised that, in her opinion, the gelding would be better suited to events over further distances.

RUBY’S LAD-Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.

Race 2: RANVET – TRUSTED PERFORMANCE PRODUCTS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m

GENUINE AL- Declared a late scratching at 2:20pm when injured in the horse transport vehicle on route to the course. Trainer P Duncan was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

COUNT THE COIN- Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping.

JACKPOT JAY- Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping. Lay in under pressure down the running.

MILL ROSSA- Buffeted on jumping. Inconvenienced approaching the 1000m and obliges to steady and shift in bumping with WRITTLE.

App A Patis was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater effort as a result of this incident. App Patis advised her mount had been inclined to lay in for the majority. Co-Trainer T Sears advised on the 02/05/2022 that the gelding had pulled up lame in the near-fore fetlock. Trainer Sears was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

WRITTLE- Bumped by another runner which was inconvenienced approaching the 1000m, shifted in an bumped the inside running rail becoming unbalanced for several strides. Improved onto heels having to be steadied approaching the 900m. Inclined to lay out passing the 700m. Bumped the inside running rail when momentarily crowded passing the 500m. Held up for clear running until a point approaching the 100m. App A Jones advised that her instructions had been to obtain a forward position with cover and in doing so her mount had been forced to race amongst other runners which, in her opinion, the gelding doesn’t appreciate. Stewards noted the explanation.

Race 3: DREAMTIME GAMES DASH CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1625m

SIZZLING BABE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. Finished tailed off. Trainer D Leggatt was advised a warning would be placed on the mares competitiveness.

LICENSED AND READY- Raced wide from the 700m. Shifted in marginally passing the 450m.

BLACK SPARROW- Compounded in the home straight and finished tailed off. Trainer J Judge advised that the filly was somewhat underdone going into today and would derive a fitness benefit from the event.  Nonetheless Mr Judge was advised a warning would be placed on the fillies competitiveness.

Race 7: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1850m

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards, acting on a report from Starters Mr B Mallory and Mr T Woodham that the start had not been effected by the starter, viewed the official patrol footage of the start and after taking submissions from several riders determined that ZOOMARATTA (K Yoshida) had been materially disadvantaged when the gates had opened as a Barrier attendant was obstructing its exit from the barrier. As such Stewards, acting under the provisions of AR204, declared ZOOMARATTA a non-starter and ordered all monies invested on the gelding to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers:

3cents in the dollar for the win
3cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
4cents for 2nd place
5 cents for 3rd place

Toowoomba Turf Club officials undertook to perform additional maintenance and testing on the starting gates prior to their next use.
