The Right to Information Act 2009(QLD) (PDF, 891 KB) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (QLD)(PDF, 872 KB), which have replaced Freedom of Information (FOI) laws, provide equal access to information held by state government departments across all sectors of the community, and provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy and personal information.

The Queensland Government is committed to providing access to information held by government departments, unless on balance it is contrary to the public interest to provide that information.

The Right to Information Act (2009):

  • gives the public a right to apply for access to documents held by government agencies and Ministers;
  • requires each agency to publish a publication scheme on its website which may include an online disclosure log of documents that have been released in response to Right to Information applications; and
  • establishes the Information Commissioner and Right to Information Commissioner to oversee Right to Information in Queensland.

The Information Privacy Act (2009):

  • gives the public a right to apply to access and amend their own personal information;
  • details the privacy principles public sector agencies must comply with,; and
  • establishes the Privacy Commissioner as a deputy to the Information Commissioner with particular responsibility for Information Privacy in Queensland.

Accessing Information

Before making a Right to Information (RTI) application you can check to see if the information is already available from the Racing Queensland website; our disclosure log, which consists of non-personal information released through the RTI legal process; or from our publication scheme which contains information about the department, our services, finances, priorities, decisions, policies, lists and registers.

If you wish to access about Racing Queensland, our services, finances, policies, registers and information released through Right to Information (RTI) requests that is not readily available, there are several avenues through you which you may do so.
