Race 1: STAFFING SOLUTIONS CLASS B H’CAP – 1500M
 
MUSTANG JACK – Delayed the start when proved difficult to load.
 
EIRIAN – Slow to begin. When questioned into the mare’s performance which raced below market expectations rider J. Lambie was unable to offer any tangible explanation other than the it failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion was disappointing. 
 
WILL HE TORQUE – Slow to begin.
 
STORMY ZUMA – Over-raced in the early stages.   
 
Race 2: CAIRNS HARDWARE QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 950M
 
On return to scale a protest was lodged by rider of 3rd place getter (WICKED MISTRESS) against FINE ‘N’ DEVINE (S. Kaya) being declared 2nd past the post alleging interference near the 300m. After hearing statements from riders and respective connections, viewing of the official race film and considering the margin of 1 length between the runners at the finish line, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that WICKED MISTRESS would have beat FINE ‘N’ DEVINE home had the interference not occurred and as such dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the judges semaphored numbers.         
 
LIDDELL – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TEXAS GAL – Shifted out shortly after the start and bumped another runner. Hampered near the 300m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
WICKED MISTRESS – Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.
Checked near the 300m.
 
REACTANT – Restrained near the 100m when placed in restricted room by another runner.
 
OUR ATOM – Shifted in under pressure when racing greenly near the 100m placing another runner in restricted room. Rider A. Thompson was severely reprimanded and advised to stop riding and straighten her mounts when shifting ground.
 
INSTANT LUTE – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.  
 
FINE ‘N’ DEVINE – Rider S. Kaya pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(a) in that he shifted out to obtain clear running near the 300m when insufficiently clear of WICKED MISTRESS (L. Cheshire) which had to be checked. S. Kaya’s licence to ride on races was suspended for a period of 7 Days to commence at midnight tonight 20/05/2017 up to and including Saturday 27/05/2017. In considering penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and good recent race riding record.   
 
 
Race 3: CENTURY CRANES BENCHMARK 55 H’CAP – 950M
 
NEW CALEDONIA – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DAZZLUNA – Slow to begin.
 
HE’S A VELLA – Shifted in near the 600m and brushed the running rail.
 
FIZZICALLY WICKED – Restrained near the 500m when racing in restricted room.
 
I AM BRUCE – Restrained shortly after the start when crowded for room.
 
MAN OF BUISNESS – Hung in shortly after the start inconveniencing another runner.
 
SECOND TIME AROUND – Fractious in the barrier, was examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race. 

 Race 4: PLASTER METAL CLADDING MAIDEN PLATE – 1250M
 
As B. Swaffer was unable to make the allotted weight as the rider of RANGA ROCKET he was replaced by F. Edwards. As this was B. Swaffer first day of riding engagements for a long period of time he was reprimanded.  
 
CATHEDRAL CITY – After competing Townsville 18/05/2017 was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the race and was cleared to start.
 
RANGA ROCKET – Slow to begin. Unbalanced near the 50m and shifted ground.
 
ZOFFANY ROCKET – Slow to begin.
 
GRANDZONE ROCKET – Difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight.   
 
Race 5: CARLTON MID BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1250M
 
CLEVFILLY – Slow to begin.
 
STANDFORD – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the middle stages of race.
 
STABLE SURPRISE – Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
WONDERFUL TALE – Steadied near the 800m and lost ground. Difficulties obtaining clear running in the home straight.
