Race 4: Racezone Class 2 H’cap - 1630m

MAKURU – Change of tactics – Connections advised that the mare would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit. The horse subsequently settled midfield.

GOOD INTENTIONS – Apprentice M. Murphy explained that approaching the 200m he was disappointed for clear running and therefore he had to shift out to find clear running. M. Murphy was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mounts when he has clear running.

IGNITE THE LIGHT – Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that from the awkward draw she had to ride her mount forward in the early stages to cross runners to her inside and after doing so when she endeavoured to steady in front, the gelding overraced badly despite her efforts, proved difficult to settle and as a consequence compounded over the concluding stages.

REININO – Apprentice Q. Krogh reported his mount did not show its usual gate speed as it had previously in Rockhampton, and that when placed under pressure passing the 600m failed to respond and, in his opinion, was disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary clearance must be provided. Connections advised that the horse would be sent for a spell
