Race 1: Sky Thoroughbred Central QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
FEMALE OFFICER – Slow into stride.
 
STRONG I AM – Trainer P. Strong was advised that the performance was considered unacceptable and that a metropolitan bar would be placed on the filly until it can establish form in the provincial area.
 
 
Race 2: Gallopers Sports Club QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1000m
 
BIGGER THAN TEXAS – Slow to muster speed.  Bumped on the home turn.
 
MEYIWA HITAM MAWAR – Slow to muster speed.
 
DANSEZ – Bumped on the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: Girls Day Out Raceday F&M Class 4 H’cap – 1300m
 
QUATTRO PASSI  – Overraced and hung out from the 900m until straightening.
 
Race 4: GA Season Pass F&M Maiden H’cap – 1200m
 
ROCK GARDEN – When questioned jockey J. Byrne explained that his intention was to try and settle the filly midfield and obtain cover if possible. He explained from the jump and wide draw he was unable to fulfil the instructions and it became evident to him in the early stages that the filly was reluctant to relax and pulled very hard and despite his efforts overraced badly and hung out from the 900m until straightening.  Trainer D. Forster confirmed the instructions were to  have the horse settle where comfortable and hopefully find cover from the awkward draw. She said the filly has been working well without the blinkers, however  was of the view today it overraced badly with the blinkers.  Ms Forster said it would now be her intention to give the horse another trial without that gear, adding she would then make the decision whether the blinkers be removed from the horse’s racing gear in future.
 
SONADOR ANGEL – Hung out from the 800m until straightening. Jockey B. Stewart explained that when crossed by ROCK GARDEN his horse overraced badly when inclined to hang out, and then from the 800m continued to shift out away from SNOW DRIFTER.  He added he would recommend to connections that blinkers be applied to the horse at its next start.
 
AMARYLISS – Lost its near hind plate at the 300m.
 

Race 5: Hamilton Hotel CG&E Maiden H’cap – 1200m
 
IRON CRAFT – Was standing awkwardly and blundered badly on jumping away and shifted out abruptly, almost dislodging its rider. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SWISS ART – Had to be steadied approaching the 1000m to avoid heels of OLYMPIC PRINCE, which shifted in.  Apprentice R. Williams, rider of OLYMPIC PRINCE, was reprimanded.
 
ERCOLANO – Lost its off fore and near hind plates in running.
 
 
Race 6: Relaxed Racing Class 4 H’cap – 1600m
 
COMACINA – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
WINNING ACCORD – Hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride out.
 
FRANK WHO – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
FRENCH SONG – When questioned jockey J. Mallyon explained that the horse had previously been ridden forward in the early stages however overraced badly. He said from today’s awkward draw it was his intention to restrain and endeavour to find cover in a forward position. He added  that shortly after the start he became aware there were a number of runners to his inside and as he was reluctant to urge it forward as he was concerned it may overrace, he took the option to endeavour to restrain, however the mare appeared to resent this and threw its head up for some distance. Jockey Mallyon added that as a result  he was left 3 wide in the early stages and despite his efforts the mare would not relax to a rearward position and as a result he was left racing 3 wide.   Trainer L. Ross stated that he was surprised in the manner in which it was ridden in the early stages, however did confirm that the horse was inclined to overrace when allowed to stride forward previously. He did however express some disappointment with the manner it was ridden in the early stages.
 
Race 7: Mount Franklin CG&E Class 4 H’cap – 1300m
 
PLAN RED – After being boxed, then reared in its stall and became cast. The horse was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon and found not suitable to race and was withdrawn at 4.10 pm with the following deductions applicable.
 
34 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
22 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd  place bets
 
Trainer T. Gollan was advised that he would be required to provide a barrier certificate for  the horse prior to its next race start.
 
JESSIE’S BOY – Stumbled on jumping away. Tightened for room near the 600m.
 
HAPPY SNITZEL – Slow to begin.
 
DOUSAICHI – Tightened for room near the 600m.
 
 
Race 8: Weddings At BRC Class 2 H’cap – 1500m
 
ST CAJETAN – Hung in badly in the straight and proved difficult to ride out.
 
Race 9: Racezone Ratings Band 0-70 H’cap – 1000m
 
EXCELARTIE – Bounded on jumping away.  Hung in in the straight and proved difficult to ride out.
 
AROUND THE MOON – Slow into stride.
 
LIFE’S LIKE THAT – Apprentice B. Ainsworth, rider of the 5th placegetter, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that she failed to ride her mount out right to the finish of the race which, in the opinion of the stewards, should have finished 4th.  Apprentice Ainsworth was fined $500.
 
AMERICAN DIVA – Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and riding of the horse, particularly in the home straight. Evidence was taken from jockey L. Rolls and trainer J. Smerdon.  Stewards adjourned the inquiry to obtain sectional times and other relevant information.
