GENERAL

Stewards opened and adjourned an inquiry into jockey J. Morris’s conduct in the scales room during an adjournment of a stewards inquiry in relation to an incident in Race 5.

Race 1: GOODNA RUGBY LEAGUE OLD BOYS F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

DANISH DRAMA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

LA MASCARA – As the mare had not raced since September 2015, it underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

ROYAL BOUQUET – Tightened badly on jumping away and lost ground.

OAKS AVENUE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner.

SECURENCY – Slow to begin.

WE’RE ALL EARS – Slow into stride.

Race 2: HOTEL KERWICK C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when LAKOUDIS required resaddling and further adjustments were needed to be made to the horse’s bridle.

FUZZY MELON – Trainer S. Burns was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card.

GOD’S LAW – Slow to begin.

LAKOUDIS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the middle stages of the event.

EYERONIC – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. On returning to scale apprentice A. Fancourt reported that in her opinion her mount resented the tongue tie and for that reason she had suggested to connections to remove this gear.

KEEN TIARA – Bumped on jumping away. Cast the near hind plate in running.

KICKSTART MY HEART – Trainer M. Costa was fined $100 for failing to produce the horse’s Thoroughbred Identification Card.

LOOKSY NO TOUCHY – Forced to steady to avoid the heels of another runner approaching the 1000m. After being caught wide in the early stages T. Harrison allowed her mount to stride forward and obtain a position outside the leader passing the 800m.

BENICSTRESS – Tightened for room on jumping away. On return to scale apprentice B. Ainsworth stated that her mount hung out throughout the event.

Race 3: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FRUIT MARKET QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M

FRENCH DESCENT – Slow to begin.

JEXERLENT – Bumped with another runner at the start. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.

REJUVENATE – Bumped on jumping away and lost ground. Raced three wide without cover throughout the event. Laid in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.

SAVALAS – On return to scale J. Lloyd reported the horse to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed that the horse had a respiratory irregularity and therefore, based on this advice, connections were advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again.

WESTBROOK WARRIOR – Bumped at the start.

WHISKEY APPLE – Raced ungenerously for some distance approaching the 1000m whilst being restrained from heels.

ENTERPRISE MISS – Raced ungenerously for some distance approaching the 1000m whilst being restrained from heels.

OUR GRACIOUS DANE – Slow to begin. Disappointed for a run near the 200m and forced to shift to the outside to secure clear running.

SIP SIP SIP – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

DARESAY – Began awkwardly and was then bumped buy another runner. Trainer L. Wheeler reported following the event that the filly had pulled up shin sore in both forelegs.

Race 4: UBER DOC CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1666M

COLOUR OF MONEY – Jockey J. Lloyd reported that he intended to be in a midfield position, however after being slightly slow to begin and then placed in restricted room shortly after the start he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated. He added that he was reluctant to place undue pressure on the horse from a wide barrier to obtain a midfield position, so he was content to restrain to a one-off position towards the tail of the field.

BENFICA PRINCESS – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.

ALWAYS A GIBBERER – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages.

Race 5: JUST FITNESS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow trainer K. Kemp and N. Tomizawa, the rider of 5th placegetter BLACK CRUSADE to view the stewards’ patrol footage in the straight.

MUDDY ROPE – Hung out rounding the home turn. Checked when placed in restricted room rounding the home turn. N. Tomizawa, the rider of BLACK CRUSADE, was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out at that point.

MR ATTITUDE – Hung out from the 600m in the early stages of the home straight.

KILLERMAN’S RUN – Began awkwardly.

VITAL LOVE – J. Lloyd reported that from the jump the filly, which he expected to race in a forward position, failed to travel at any stage and despite his efforts to improve, trailed the field throughout the event and tailed off in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. Meagher’s representative, Mr A. Kermond, advised that in light of the performance today, the stable will barrier trial the filly prior to next racing.

BLACK CRUSADE – Slow to begin. Had to be checked over the concluding stages to avoid the heels of KILLERMAN’S RUN. S. Doyle, the rider of KILLERMAN’S RUN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that stage he permitted his mount to shift out whilst being ridden along. Jockey Doyle’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 25 June, and expire at midnight on Thursday, 6 July 2017.

MAGIC STREET – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 100m.

STAR OF POMPEII – When overracing passing the 600m was steadied from the heels of another runner which shifted in marginally. Held up rounding the home turn and was forced to shift to the inside in the early stages of the home straight to secure clear running.

POSITIVE QUEST – Tightened for room on jumping away.

MISS ZINZIN – Restrained near the 800m to avoid the heels of MAGIC STREET and lost its rightful running. J. Morris, the rider of MAGIC STREET, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that stage he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of MISS ZINZIN. Jockey Morris’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Friday, 23 June, and expire at midnight on Saturday, 1 July 2017.

Race 6: J.G. MULLAN CONSTRUCTION BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1200M

BO ROSSA – Began awkwardly. On return to scale W. D’Avila reported that the horse did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

ROCKY NUGGET – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 800m.

DESTINY’S LASS – Slow to begin.

GLONASS – Bled from both nostrils during the event. Trainer M. Costa was advised that the gelding will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.

CAPTAIN CLAYTON – Hung in in the early stages.

OUR ROCK O’REILLY – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

FINE EYES – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.

HAUSER – Raced wide from the 800m.

Race 7: GOODNA RUGBY LEAGUE CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1350M

GRUOSI – Held up at the heels of a tiring runner rounding the home turn.

FAST VISION – Raced wide without cover throughout.

JUST TRUCKIN’ – Tightened shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout the event.

ANDARI – Raced wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

GUADALUPE – Steadied from heels at the 800m.

BOILING – Raced wide throughout.

HUKA PELE – Commenced to race ungenerously with its head in the air for some distance when placed under pressure in the home straight.
