GENERAL
 
As M. Stephens was indisposed due to injury, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Stephens was advised that he will require a medical clearance prior to resuming riding.
 
Stewards spoke with Mr. G Pierce in relation to his attendance in the restricted area of the race day tie-up stalls during the race meeting. As Mr. Pierce is not the holder of an appropriate licence and does not have the authority to be in the licensed area of the tie-up stalls on race day, he was advised that he is not be permitted to frequent this area until such time as he does hold the appropriate licence.
 
Jockey C Jokic who was dislodged during a barrier trial following the completion of the race meeting was transported to hospital for assessment. Ms. Jokic will be advised that she will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding.
 
 
Race 1: HEALTHY HOOF APPEAL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M
 
The start of this race was delayed 20 minutes due to the late arrival of the ambulance on course. As a result the starting times of the following races were amended as follows:
 
          Race 1 – 1:55 pm
          Race 2 – 2:32 pm
          Race 3 – 2:55 pm
          Race 4 – 3:25 pm
 
MISTY ISLAND – Slowly into stride. Shifted in under pressure approaching the winning post.
 
STORMY ZUMA – As A. Coome was unable to fulfil his engagement due to transport difficulties, D. Hayse was substituted as the rider of this runner. Inclined to race keenly in the early stages.
 
GROHL – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GENERAL BEERS – Slowly away after beginning awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 

Race 2: ALL MINE SERVICES QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1050M
 
BAUHINIA SID – Inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding, which was having its first start since 20 September 2016, had a poor post-race recovery rate.
 
REDATAQ – Inclined to overrace in the early stages.
 
CYCLONE FUGITIVE – Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages and had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 3: BARCAM ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 60 H'CAP – 1560M
 
CALL ME RINGO – Slowly away.
 
SEBRINGS DRAMA – Slowly away.
 
BEYOND – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
 
 
 
Race 4: COL PLUMBING CLASS 6 PLATE – 1300M
 
ARTIBAI – Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding, which was having its first start since 22 October 2016, had a poor post-race recovery rate.
 
QUICK ASSAULT – As A. Coome was to be overweight, B. Grylls was substituted as rider. A. Coome was fined $100.
 
BELORUM – Slowly away. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLYING SAND – Inclined to overrace in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 5: PAYNE PRINT BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1100M
 
EL CAPO – Slowly away. Raced wide rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.
 
IMPERIAL ATTITUDE – Inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages.
 
Race 6: 4MK CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M
 
GOT YOU DOUBLE – Unable to obtain clear running entering the home straight until leaving the 100m.
 
CONCA DEL SOGNO – Slowly into stride.
 
HAVANA CIGAR – Caught three wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
HIDDEN THUNDER – Disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination no abnormalities.
 
LAMERICAN – As A. Coome was to be overweight, D. Simmons was substituted as rider. A. Coome was fined $100.
 
HELLUVA HOFFA – Reared as the barriers opened, losing ground. Restrained when racing in restricted room for a short distance near the 600m.
 
DANE SLUGGER – Inclined to overrace in the early stages. Held up for clear running for a short distance near the 150m.
 
ANOTHER LISTING – Bled from both nostrils during the event. As this was the first occasion on which the mare has bled, Trainer Ms. O Cairns was advised it will be ineligible to race for a period of 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
 
Race 7: MTC 100 CLUB CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1100M
 
SHAHQA – Inclined to run about under pressure approaching the winning post resulting in Jockey G Kliese having to stop riding and straighten.
 
CHICA PEEPS – Raced three wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Shifted in under pressure near the winning post.
 
CORNISH TALES – Fractious in the barriers.
 
MOONLIT CLOUD – Late scratching at 12:36 pm after being found to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer O. Cairns was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance before being permitted to race again.
 
HARDEN UP PRINCESS – Slowly away. Failed to run on over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BIG SHOES – Slowly away. Shifted out marginally near the 100m to obtain clear running, slightly inconveniencing another runner.
 
BITE THAT LIP – Slightly inconvenienced by another runner which shifted out marginally near the 100m.
