Race 1: Roy 'Butch' Mules Memorial Maiden Handicap - 1300 metres
 
THE SHOWMAN - Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with another runner. When attempting a doubtful run near the 300m had to be steadied and lost ground.
 
MYTANG - Bumped on the hindquarters on jumping and became unbalanced.
 
WHILE WE CAN - Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
 
MAGIC WELL > Kicked out hitting the running rail during its preliminary. Was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
MURTAHOME - Raced 3 wide with no cover for the majority of the race.
 
MAGIC GLOW - Rider D. Evans dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
 
 
Race 2: Kevin's Place Maiden Plate - 1050 metres
 
 
CENTENARIO - Fractious in the barriers prior to the start, then was slow to begin.
 
BOUN CI - Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
BAUHINIA DROUGHT - Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the race.
 
FYLART - On returning to scale rider K. Aho reported that the mare was awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slow post-race recovery.
 
Race 3: Gingers Cold Room Hire QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres
 
CHEEKY STAR - Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 under L.R. 67(1) for failing to declare a rider for the filly by the prescribed time.
 
AL MAH ROCKET > The start was delayed when after being placed in the barriers the gelding broke through and galloped a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the late scratching of the gelding at 1.52 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on AL MAH ROCKET be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
 
>           188 in the dollar for the win, for the winner BARBADOS STORM
>           255 in the dollar for the place for the winner BARBADOS STORM
>           188 in the dollar for the place for 2nd, CRAFTY BLONDE
>           299 in the dollar for the place for 3rd, MR PALOMINO
 
Trainer Mr J. Manzelmann, was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to the horse being permitted to race again.
 
NOW ASK ME - The start was further delayed when the filly when entering the barriers made contact with the side of the barriers and broke its off side iron. As no replacement gear was available, stewards ordered the late scratching of the filly at 2.01p.m. and further that all bets made on NOW ASK ME be refunded and that the following deductions apply between 1.52 p.m. and 2.01 pm.

DROPPER ROCKET - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner.
 
MR PALOMINO - Bumped by another runner at the start.
 
CHEEKY STAR - Began awkwardly.
 
BARBADOS STORM - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 4: Channel Seven Class 6 Plate - 1560 metres
 
Due to the circumstances referred to in Race 3, the start of this race was rescheduled for 2.35 p.m.
 
FRENCH SONG - Over-raced in the early and middle stages.
 
BELORUM - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 5: MOJO Class 2 Handicap - 1560 metres Handicap

BOYS FROM THE BUSH -- Was a late scratching, at 3.40 p.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice after being kicked on the off side shoulder by another runner.. Stewards ordered that all bets made on the gelding be refunded and that the following deductions apply:

Race 7: Smart State Vehicle Rentals BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1100 metres
 
ANZUS - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer Ms O. Cairns for the late declaration of Jockey N. Day.
 
CHINA TOWN - The start was delayed when the mare broke through the barriers before being restrained a short distance later. The horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. During the examination Stewards were advised by the veterinary surgeon the mare had a substance visible in its nostril indicative of an application of an ointment. This substance was wiped clear prior to the mare being reloaded. Trainer T. Bannon pleaded guilty to a charge under A.R.178E in that prior to the race she applied
CHINATOWN with a substance (chest rub ointment) in the nasal passage of the mare. Trainer Bannon was fined $600. A swab sample was taken.
 
MAHRAJAAN - Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
GOOD CATCH - Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 8: Payne Print Open Handicap - 1050 metres
 
BOBCAT - Began awkwardly and blundered.
 
CLEAVER - Slow to begin.
 
DANCHAI - Slow to begin.
 
NATURAL DANCER - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

CORNISH TALES - Began awkwardly.
 
GENERAL BEERS - Slow into stride.
 
FLYING DUBAI - Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
ALL KOOL - Restrained at the start to gain a position closer to the inside rail.
 
MAGITORIAL - Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
