Race 1: CHAPS MENSWEAR MAIDEN H'CAP – 1600M
 
CASINO – Bumped by another runner approaching the 400m and was buffeted.
 
DRUMMERS CHANCE – Slow to begin.
 
MAN MADE – Slow to begin.
 
ELMO’S FIRE – Held up rounding the home turn and made heavy contact with another runner when attempting to secure a run approaching the 400m and was then disappointed and shifted back to the inside after passing the 400m to secure clear running.
 
DEE CEE DELIGHTS – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
RED SAGA – When asked if it had been his intention to lead, J. Orman indicated that the horse was ridden for pace at its most recent start and it had been his intention to ride the horse in a forward position today.
 
Race 2: YALUMBA QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1000M
 
JADEDFOX – A. Allen reported at scale that his mount felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
COLLAR’S UP – Raced three wide without cover.
 
SHREWVELON – Connections advised that it would be the intention to attempt to have the horse ridden with cover. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
Race 3: XXXX CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M
 
CAPO DI TUTTI – Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
RED REASON – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: COASTLINE BMW BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 1000M
 
DIVINE CENTURI – When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, R. Wiggins indicated that whilst the horse had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight, it weakened over the concluding stages, which he felt could be attributed to the horse having its first start from a significant spell and would take improvement from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
TRUE PASSION – J. Lloyd reported to stewards that his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise in the home straight.
 
Race 5: WIMMERS PREMIUM SOFT DRINKS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
RED AXE – Raced wide throughout and refused to settle.
 
VANILLA JEWEL – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
MIABLA – Bumped at the start. Steadied when the pace slackened passing the 800m.
 
LUCKY LIPS – Checked from heels when the pace slackened passing the 800m.
 
LEGAL ATTIRE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: ACCESS INSULATION CLASS 3 PLATE – 1800M
 
OUTSTRIP – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
ST CAJETAN – Refused to settle in the early and middle stages and raced with its head in the air on a number of occasions.
 
WEEKEND WINNER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
LIGHTNING BELL – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HIDDEN GOLD – Overraced passing the 1500m and shifted wider on the track before being permitted to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1200m.
 
Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M
 
ONE MANSINI – Sustained a laceration to the near hind leg in the tie-up stalls, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Bumped by another runner approaching the 400m. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
THE OVERDRAFT – D. Browne reported to stewards that he was very disappointed with the horse’s overall performance and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that he would advise stewards of the outcome of veterinary tests he intends to have carried out on the horse.
 
UNCHARTERED – Shifted out to improve approaching the 400m and in doing so bumped ONE MANSINI. Had some difficulty securing clear running passing the 300m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse was suffering heat stress post-race.
 
FORDYCE KNIGHT – Stewards questioned L. Tarrant as to his tactics, particularly his reasons for riding forward and holding a position in the lead when it appeared he had opportunity after passing the 1200m to steady to take up a midfield position. He advised stewards that whilst it had been his intention to ride the horse in a forward position, he initially felt that he would be able to settle behind the lead one off the fence outside THE OVERDRAFT, however, when UNCHARTERED and OMNIA MARKA TAYADA commenced to place pressure on his mount near the 1000m when not clear, he elected to push forward in order to relieve pressure to the runner to his inside.
 
Race 8: BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M
 
GODZONE GIRL – Slow to begin.
 
KAHNEMAN – Overraced badly from the 900m until the 600m, having to be steadied from heels on a number of occasions. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
OPINIONATED – Trainer A. Williamson advised stewards that based on the weather forecast that there would be rain during the afternoon, he had anticipated a rain-affected track for this event. He said that as the rain had not eventuated he wished to make application to scratch the horse as it has had joint issues and he did not want to run on a Good 3 track. Stewards advised Mr Williamson that in the circumstances they would accede to his request and scratched the horse at 3:29 pm, and notwithstanding that no emergency runner had been denied a start, a penalty of $200 would be imposed and the horse would be barred from racing on tracks rated Good 3 or better.
