Race 1: OLSENS PRODUCE/FREESTONE FEEDLOT QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100M
 
REDEX – Slow to begin. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WONDER BOOM – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Apprentice M. McGillivray advised that the colt, which was having its first start following a spell, did not run out the distance of today’s event and in his opinion would derive a fitness benefit from today’s run.
 
AQUIVER – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Steadied from heels leaving the 800m. Apprentice S. Sweeney, the rider of REDEX, was reminded of her obligations to be clear of runners to her inside when shifting ground.
 
GALAXIES – Tightened for room at the start.
 
Race 2: WARWICK CREDIT UNION MAIDEN H’CAP – 1100M
 
COLLINS CREEK – When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer S. Hardy advised that the gelding bucked at its previous start at Ipswich and had since trialled well and he was confident of a forward showing.
 
WOODLEY’S FIND – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Hung out and raced ungenerously throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer J. Crompton was advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial before being permitted to race again.
 
GIFTOFLIFE – Slow to begin.
 
SEND A MEMO – Hung out from the 800m. Trainer A. Ross was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
 
WILD BOYS – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 3: WARWICK RSL MEMORIAL CLUB OPEN H’CAP – 800M
 
POETIC DRAGON, which kicked the rear barrier gates, was declared a late scratching at 2:34 pm on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on POETIC DRAGON be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

            7 cents in the dollar for the win #4
            7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #4
            8 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
 
SASSY TYCOON – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
PAYBACK – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
 
Race 4: CASSELS AUTOMOTIVE BENCHMARK 65 H’CAP – 1200M
 
TACTICIAN was a declared a late scratching by order of stewards at 2:53 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on TACTICIAN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to scratching time.:
 
            17 cents in the dollar for the win #8
            24 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
            25 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #11
            18 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #5
 
NAKANAI – Improved onto heels and had to be steadied approaching the 100m and was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
 
STARWOOD – Raced in restricted room from the 800m to the 500m.
 
MASSIVE ATTACK – Held up for clear running from the 400m until entering the home straight.
 
CANNY EXCEL – Began awkwardly and was tightened for room at the start.
 
CASINO EXPRESS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 5: FRASERS LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT MAIDEN H’CAP – 1350M
 
HUNGRY LIKE A WOLF – Bumped heavily with another runner shortly after the start.
 
GOMO –  Bumped near the 850m and forced in onto another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MIAZUMI – Had to be checked near the 850m and lost its rightful running when bumped by GOMO, which was bumped and taken in by VICTORY IS MINE. Apprentice N. Keal, the rider of VICTORY IS MINE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GOMO. Apprentice Keal’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 22 April and expire at midnight on Sunday 30 April 2017. In determining penalty, stewards took into account apprentice Keal’s previous good record regarding this rule.
 
SMOOTH PEBBLES – Raced wide throughout.
 
CELTIC MIST – Bumped heavily with another runner shortly after the start.
 
BELLA UNO – Turned its head as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.
 
SMOOTH VELVET – Began awkwardly and raced ungenerously for a short distance after the start. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: RAILWAY HOTEL ALLORA CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1350M
 
JIM ‘N’ ANDY – Held up for clear running from entering the home straight until the 150m.
 
LUCKY DUCKY – Began awkwardly. Apprentice R. Ride reported at scale that her mount made contact with the barriers on jumping away, she became unbalanced and was placed at a disadvantage for a short distance after the start.
 
BROOKTON ICE – Held up from the 600m until near the 400m. When questioned regarding the horse’s improved performance, trainer B. Lockwood stated that the gelding appreciated the increase in distance from its last start and had been working well in the lead up to today’s event.
 
Race 7: HUTCHISON QUARRIES CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1500M
 
CONGELATOR – Raced wide throughout.
 
CASINO BLUE – Tightened for room and lost ground shortly after the start. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight
 
DAINTY STEPPER – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SNACK ON THE RUN – Trainer P. Kalinowski advised that she would be considering the racing future of the mare.
