GCTC night meeting program changes

Following the withdrawl of the Gold Coast Turf Club night meeting that was set to be held on Friday, May 24, a number of replacement racing opportunities have been programmed across South East Queensland over the coming weeks. 

 

Tuesday, May 21

A new race meeting has been programmed at Warwick Turf Club. 

This meeting will host six of the races previously included on the card for the Ipswich Turf Club race meeting on Wednesday, May 22 (below) as well as two additional races. The meeting will include:

  • Benchmark 65 Handicap, 1200m, $28,000;
  • Class 3 Plate, 1350m, $28,000; 
  • Ratings Band 0-60 Handicap, 1200m, $28,000;
  • Class 1 Handicap, 1666m, $28,000, is now 1500m;
  • Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1666m, $30,000, is now 1500m; and
  • Maiden Handicap, 1350m, $30,000;
  • 3YO Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1200m, $30,000 + QTIS Bonuses; (New Race) and
  • 2YO Maiden Handicap, 1100m, $30,000 + QTIS Bonuses (new race). 

Country apprentice claims are applicable to this meeting.

 

Wednesday, May 22

The Ipswich Turf Club meeting will remain, however it changes from provincial to midweek metropolitan status. 

The nine-race card will host six of the races originally programmed for the Gold Coast Turf Club night meeting whilst retaining two of its originally programmed events.  A further ninth race has also been added to the program. The meeting will include:

  • 3YO Handicap, 2150m, $75,000 + QTIS bonuses;
  • Benchmark 72 Handicap, 2150m, $35,000 (Winter Provincial Stayers Heat);
  • Class 6 Plate (Set Weights), 1200m, $38,000;
  • Class 3 Handicap, 1000m, $38,000 + QTIS 4YO Bonuses, is now 1100m;
  • Benchmark 78 Handicap, 1700m, $38,000, is now 1666m;
  • Maiden Handicap, 1000m, $40,000, is now 1100m;
  • 3YO Benchmark 65 Handicap, 1200m, $38,000 + QTIS Bonuses;
  • 3YO Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1400m, $40,000 + QTIS Bonuses, is now 1350m; and
  • 2YO Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1200m, $40,000 + QTIS (new race).

Metropolitan apprentice claims are applicable to this meeting.

 

Friday, May 24

Gold Coast Turf Club night meeting has been withdrawn from the schedule.

 

Saturday, May 25

A new seven-race meeting programmed for the Gold Coast Turf Club Polytrack has been added. 

As a result of the $1 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic ($1m) being added to the Doomben program, the meeting will now comprise of 10 races. 

Due to the move, it will now be run over 1050m as opposed to the 1000m.

  • Benchmark 65 Handicap, 1540m, $28,000;
  • Benchmark 55 Handicap, 1540m, $28,000;
  • Benchmark 58 Handicap, 1100m, $28,000;
  • Benchmark 58 Handicap, 1900m, $28,000;
  • Maiden Handicap, 1050m, $30,000;
  • 3YO Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1200m, $30,000; and
  • 2YO Maiden Plate (Set Weights), 1050m, $30,000.             

Provincial apprentice claims are applicable to this meeting.
