Form Analysis: Albion Park Apr 12

12 April 2022

RACE TWO

After s solid effort first up in Qld when keen in the run from a second line gate at Redcliffe, WATTS UP SUNSHINE (6) was large in victory here last start at the 2138m trip. Sitting parked, he delivered a crushing first over defeat. The form from that race has been franked with both placed runners having won since. He looks too good for them here.

ITS MR CLOONEY (5) was sent to sit parked last start at Marburg from the standing start and after the tough trip faded in the closing stages. A strong Redcliffe winner three starts back where he defeated subsequent winner ADAM CROCKER, the small field will aid his challenging chances.

MAJORDOIT (4) secured the 1x1 trail at Redcliffe two starts back and in a breakaway finished 2m from the winner KEAYANG MARVEN with 11m back to 3rd. Franking that effort with a last start Marburg victory, he can make a play.

SELECTIONS: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (6), ITS MR CLOONEY (5), MAJORDOIT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (6) to win

RACE THREE

This looks a wide open 2YO contest with 7 of the 10 on debut and the market might help tell the story. The Captaintreacherous filly EXCITING TIMES (5) for Shannon Price debuts off a trial where she was asked for little to earn the qualifying tick. She might be the one.

THE TAX CULLECTOR (9) is a Gotta Go Cullect gelding stepping out for Chantal Turpin that is the first foal of the former handy race mare Judyfree. With a handy trial and a nice workout here at The Creek, he looks to have the scope to throw down a first up challenge.

FRAYA (4) was not shown open space in her qualifying trial when kept on the helmet of the winner and ranks as a half to some smart performers in Frankie Rocks and Fame Assured amongst others.

The chances don’t end there with the well-named CRADOCK (7) impressive in defeating three listed above at the trials, HEZA GALVINATOR (6) produced a nice effort on debut, FOXI FIVE (2) brings experience with a two starts and THE GROGMOTHER (8) solid on debut but drawn awkwardly.

SELECTIONS: EXCITING TIMES (5), THE TAX CULLECTOR (9), FRAYA (4), CRADOCK (7)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

An absolute cracking 3YO contest for a midweeker, with some very nice horses likely to start at big odds with the way the barrier draw has fallen. DANGERZONE (1) shoots for the hat-trick after blowing their lights out at Redcliffe. Better suited back on the big deck, he has the gate to be revvin’ up the engine.

SPEAK THE TRUTH (8) has returned for his 3YO term in super order with successive Redcliffe victories, the latest when overcoming the inside second line over 2040m. Too classy in front when resuming, he will be stalking the speed and ready to strike for the threepeat.

SOHO CASABLANCA (9) was well supported to start favourite last start at Redcliffe and after pressing on to find the front, could not finish it off. The pegs will be the ideal spot to be here.

AMAMI (10) was impressive first up when sitting parked and scoring a strong win but was beaten by gate 7 second up after doing the work but fading. He can look to chime in.

SELECTIONS: DANGERZONE (1), SPEAK THE TRUTH (8), SOHO CASABLANCA (9), AMAMI (10)
SUGGESTED BET: DANGERZONE (1) to win (1 / 8) quinella/exacta

RACE FIVE

A tough race here made no easier by the 2138m distance that most of this field don’t produce their best over. MI FURIOSO TORO (12) did a tonne of work here last week from gate 7 at the mile and after looking gone, somehow was still able to fight for the silver. He is worth another chance in this.

BETTOR MEMORIES (11) was the swooper that arrived for the prize here last week to deny MI FURIOSO TORO and make it successive wins in the process. Scoring over the 1780m at The Triangle the start prior, she can get the cart into the contest to challenge for the hat-trick.

WHATA OPTIMIST (2) has two wins in his past four starts, with both wins coming at Marburg. Fading out last start after sitting parked from outside the front line, he tackles the trip for the first time.

ILLBEWATCHING (8) will be requiring a slice of luck from this alley to find the open road. Spending some pennies when repelled in the early stages last start, he can be probing to join in here.

SELECTIONS: MI FURIOSO TORO (12), BETTOR MEMORIES (11), WHATA OPTIMIST (2), ILLBEWATCHING (8)
SUGGESTED BET: MI FURIOSO TORO (12) to win

RACE SIX

BE MY ROCK (2)
settled in the pocket trail last start from gate 1 when finishing midfield at the middle trip as WATTS UP SUNSHINE claimed the cash. Sent forward to sit parked two starts back before making an error, he can be close enough to the action to open his Qld account.

LEFT A TERROR (4) was sent around them in the early stages from the second line last start over the 2138m and then sitting parked was unable to cope and faded. Just 3m away at Redcliffe the start prior, he might just have the speed to find the front and that would bring him right into calculations.

SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (8) will have the second line options here as the only runner out the back. Finishing off his races in top order in recent weeks with strong sectionals, he can make a closing play.

THE ROCKNROLL KING (3) started from the second line at Redcliffe last time out and was making the closing raid when finishing a head shy of the prize. From this gate he is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: BE MY ROCK (2), LEFT A TERROR (4), SO BOBS YOUR UNCLE (8), THE ROCKNROLL KING (3)
SUGGESTED BET: BE MY ROCK (2) to win

RACE SEVEN

SHEREACTS (3)
showed early hustle last time out and was able to slide into the pocket trail as I AM SPARTA took up the running. Chasing hard, she had to settle for a midfield finish which followed a down the line return in a mare’s qualifier behind PELOSI. The conditions here look favourable.

BULLDOG BRAWLER (6) will get the chance to bring the small track country form to the big deck in the city. Finishing top-two at his past six in succession at Marburg that includes a pair of wins, the most recent of those last start when finishing over the top from the second line.

FRANCO NATHAN (5) made a mess of the standing start last time out when tackling a Goldstrike heat, ending his chances. That was his first start since June and he can atone here.

FOUR FOR FOUR (1) resumes from a spell, stepping out for the first time this season. Yet to claim a win here at headquarters, she has the gate to feature fresh.

SELECTIONS: SHEREACTS (3), BULLDOG BRAWLER (6), FRANCO NATHAN (5), FOUR FOR FOUR (1)
SUGGESTED BET: SHEREACTS (3) to win

RACE EIGHT

Getting it all wrong at her Qld debut last time out, VALKYRIE (7) cops the ODM embargo as a result of the starting error. The effort after the error was solid and after working hard to catch the field, she still ran some tidy closing splits. If the manners arrive, she might just be able to as well.

SUNNY RICE (6) will have taken further benefit from her latest offering when facing gate 7 over the mile. Easing to secure position, she was buried in the run before unable to find the space to make a play, hitting dead-ends. With a rub of the green from a tough alley, she is can challenge.

MAGICAL MAYA (4) returns from a let-up after her last appearance came seven weeks back from gate 6 when chasing behind MISTERY ROAD. A smart winner first up back in January, she is in the mix.

OUR AUNTY ASH (1) grabbed the silver last start when taking the trail from this same gate and finishing best of the chasers behind DELIGHTFUL LOU. A similar trip can see her feature.

SELECTIONS: VALKYRIE (7), SUNNY RICE (6), MAGICAL MAYA (4), OUR AUNTY ASH (1)
SUGGESTED BET: VALKYRIE (7) to win

RACE NINE

Placed in all three starts since returning from a spell, SO MUCH MORE (6) again comes up with a tough gate but in a race where the tempo looks strong, can arrive for the prize. 3rd to BAKER CREEK last start after losing momentum, he ran into some handy ones in his first two runs back.

BAKER CREEK (5) was strong to the line two starts back when grabbing the silver behind the smart 3YO SPEAK THE TRUTH and franked the effort when scoring over the 2138m here last week. Pressing on to take control, she held on for a head margin, with 16m back to 3rd. She can look for a repeat.

FRANCO NANDOR (4) was first up since September and stepping out for the Butler stable for the first time here last week when heavily supported and finishing too strongly to score. With added fitness, he can look for the repeat.

REBLINE (1) will take further benefit from her latest outing when second up from a spell and finishing midfield after retreating from gate 6. The inside gate is a big help for this assignment.

SELECTIONS: SO MUCH MORE (6), BAKER CREEK (5), FRANCO NANDOR (4), REBLINE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: SO MUCH MORE (6) to win

RACE TEN

Securing the right trip in behind the speed last start over the mile, THE HERVEY BAY (10) was able to find the space when needed, hit the front and hold on in the closing strides to score. Taken back from gate 4 the start prior when unable to get going late, he can overcome the awkward draw.

COPPERFIELD (3) was first up from a break here last week when eased to find the poles and then when shown open road in the stretch, went within a half-head of the win behind THE HERVEY BAY. With added fitness from that run, he can be close enough to throw down a challenge.

MISTERY ROAD (4) has not been seen since February 22 when he claimed a strong win when parked over this trip, claiming his first victory at the middle distance. 3rd to LEAP TO FAME two starts back, he is in the mix.

ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8) took them all the way here two starts back from gate 5 to claim a tidy win at the mile. With over seven weeks until his next appearance, he will strip fitter and be searching for openings.

SELECTIONS: THE HERVEY BAY (10), COPPERFIELD (3), MISTERY ROAD (4), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8)
SUGGESTED BET: THE HERVEY BAY (10) to win
