Racing Queensland advises that the Brisbane Racing Club meeting on Wednesday, March 2, has been transferred to the Sunshine Coast Polytrack.

Doomben has received a massive volume of rain over the past 72 hours, to the extent that there is no possibility that the racing surface will recover in time for Wednesday’s meeting to proceed on it.

As a result, there are changes to the distances of some races on the program:

  • Colts, Geldings & Entires Benchmark 65 Hcp – was 1200m, is now 1100m;
  • Fillies & Mares Benchmark 65 Hcp  – was 1200m, is now 1100m;
  • Class 4 Handicap – was 1350m, is now 1400m;
  • Class 2 Handicap – was 1050m, is now 1100m;
  • Class 1 Handicap – was 1650m, is now 1600m;
  • Maiden Plate 4YO & upwards – was 1650m, is now 1600m;
  • Maiden Plate – was 1050m, is now 1100m;
  • 3YO Maiden Plate – was 1650m, is now 1600m; and
  • 3YO Handicap (previously programmed at Doomben 26/2) – 1350m, is now 1400m – with the same field retained.

The Listed Sky Racing Tattersall’s Cup (1600m) which was also rescheduled to this program from Saturday’s abandoned meeting, will now be contested at Doomben on Saturday, March 5.

Given the length of time which has elapsed since nominations were originally taken for the race, fresh nominations will now be called for, closing at 11am tomorrow, Monday, February 28.

Trainers should also note that nominations for all races for Wednesday’s meeting (except for the 3YO Hcp, 1400 metres) have been re-opened to all horses and will close at 9am, tomorrow, Monday, February 28.

Acceptances for Wednesday’s meeting (excluding the 3YO Hcp, 1400 metres) will close at 11am tomorrow, Monday, February 28, with rider declaration closure at 1pm.

Participants with engagements have also been advised of the change via SMS.
