RACE ONE

The first 2YO trotting event for the season and the strength of the square gaiters in Qld continues with a field of 8 debutants to do battle. Chantal Turpin prepares 5 in the field, including VENUS LOVE (6) who is a Centurion ATM filly that win a qualifying trial impressively and has shown good manners at each of her three public appearances.

NORTHERN POWER (8) is a My High Expectations half-brother to NORTHERN MUSCLE prepared by Denis Smith. Safely away from the tapes and trotting cleanly in his trials, he faces the outside lane.

HOLD MY HAT DOUG (7) is another of the Turpin runners that performed smartly in a preparatory trial. By the top sire Sebastian K, he attacked the line smartly to win a trial.

KENETURIO (2) has looked safe at the education and qualifying trials, with the daughter of Centurion ATM showing a nice gait in pressing to the front at her last appearance.

SELECTIONS: VENUS LOVE (6), NORTHERN POWER (8), HOLD MY HAT DOUG (7), KENETURIO (2)
SUGGESTED BET: VENUS LOVE (6) to win

RACE TWO

After three career starts where she has shown improvement at each outing, SHORT LEG SUE (2) looks to have found the right conditions to land the breakthrough. Closing out in nice order from back in the pack when 3rd to MULLUM RUBY in the Breeders last start, she can strike.

ODINS BLACK CROWS (5) started from gate 6 on debut in the Breeders Consolation and was fired off the arm to take control soon after the start. On debut in that race, it was a tidy first up effort where he faded in the latter stages to hold on for 3rd. With added experience, he can challenge second up.

MY GIRL MANDY (1) is trained by Peter Greig and is a Sunshine Beach filly out of Impish Princess, making her a half to 5 individual winners. With a tidy trial in preparation, the inside gate helps.

DOLLAR BUCKS (7) is a Hurrikane Kingcole gelding on debut for Trent Dawson that has trialled in nice fashion for his first appearance but cops the tough gate first up.

SELECTIONS: SHORT LEG SUE (2), ODINS BLACK CROWS (5), MY GIRL MANDY (1), DOLLAR BUCKS (7)
SUGGESTED BET: SHORT LEG SUE (2) to win

RACE THREE

After finishing as the bridesmaid on seven successive occasions, JACCKA WATCH (5) finally went one better here last week to claim his first win on Australian soil. Pressing on to find the front from the 10m tape, he was able to control the tempo and pull clear to an 11m margin. He can repeat.

GLOBAL FLIGHT (7) is a newcomer to Qld, arriving from the Shaky Isles to join the Narissa McMullen barn. Last seen at Rangiora over the 2600m, he arrives a four-time winner and with three of those from the tapes, he stays under a big watch from the 20m tape.

CARNERA (11) has placed in 3 outings from his 14 starts for the term, the latest when grabbing the bronze from the 2138m mobile when 7m from SOBOMBA. He has podium claims again.

THE NIGHT KING (8) rolled on from the 30m tape last time out to sit parked and after the tough trip could not get to the winner but held on for 3rd. A similar return looks on offer here.

SELECTIONS: JACCKA WATCH (5), GLOBAL FLIGHT (7), CARNERA (11), THE NIGHT KING (8)
SUGGESTED BET: JACCKA WATCH (5) to win

RACE FOUR

The punters elect at each of his past five starts, MAJESTIC HARRY (12) has been able to win two of those appearances and claim the silver in another two. Making a late play wide off the track last time at the 2647m to be just a half-neck in arrears, a return to the 2138m will be in his favour.

JANSSON (8) was uncharacteristically rough from when the tapes released last time which made the task all the tougher chasing behind RILEY MOMENT. Finding the front from the 10m here two starts back before releasing and landing the win up the passing lane, he can bounce back to challenge.

FATHER CHRISTMAS (1) was locked away against the poles here two starts back and making some late metres was able to grab the bronze. Asked to do it tough last start, he has some claims.

MULLUM STEFFI (6) was having her first run back from a spell last start at her first appearance as a 4YO and the run was full of merit behind RILEY MOMENT. With added fitness, she can chime in.

SELECTIONS: MAJESTIC HARRY (12), JANSSON (8), FATHER CHRISTMAS (1), MULLUM STEFFI (6)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJESTIC HARRY (12) to win

RACE FIVE

I NEED YOU NOW (7) resumes from a let up after her last appearance back in April when trailing the field home in open company. CASH N FLOW was the winner of that race with THE MUSTANG grabbing 2nd and the drop in grade off the back of a nice pipe opener at the trials appeals here.

CAPTAINS PICK (3) is on the back-up from Saturday night where from the wide gate he was sound in defeat. Midfield after being buried from inside the second line in a strong Final two starts back, he picked off a few metres in the stretch behind UNCLE SHANK. Firing early bullets can see him challenge.

OHOKA JIMMY (1) has been sectionally strong in recent starts and claimed a win from outside the front line at Redcliffe three starts back. With the options from this gate, he can feature.

SAVING MAJOR PERCY (5) was a winner here four starts back when grinding it out from the breeze to claim a tough victory. Buried last start when down the line behind THREE IN HEAVEN, he has place claims.

SELECTIONS: I NEED YOU NOW (7), CAPTAINS PICK (3), OHOKA JIMMY (1), SAVING MAJOR PERCY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: I NEED YOU NOW (7) to win

RACE SIX

The second of the maiden 2YO pacing events for the card where CHIEF JUJON (5) can look to go one better than his debut performance. Sitting back in the pack in a mixed aged maiden, he was exposed the last 500m and fought gamely for 2nd to THREE ONE FOUR. Building off that effort, he can arrive.

MIKI MAGIC (1) is by the top sire always B Miki out of Forgiven, which makes her a half to 8 individual winners of 98 races. Not asked for much in a qualifying trial, she sat in the pocket and eased to the outside in the stretch. The gate helps on debut for trainer Peter Greig.

FOR REAL LIFE (8) tackled the Breeders Classic last start when facing the outside second line gate and he was just too far back. He lobs the second line option here and will appreciate maiden grade.

BRONSKI DELIGHT (4) is a full sister to the smart 3YO SPEAK THE TRUTH on debut for Charlie Cini. Qualifying back in March, she had a let up before a tidy trial recently in readiness for this.

SELECTIONS: CHIEF JUJON (5), MIKI MAGIC (1), FOR REAL LIFE (8), BRONSKI DELIGHT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: CHIEF JUJON (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

He comes up with the outside paint here, but a return to Tuesday company could be the ideal tonic for COURAGEOUS SAINT (7) to find his way back into winning form. Just 5m from HEMSWORTH here on Saturday night, the start prior he had no luck at all from gate 12. A solid tempo will ais his cause.

COREY WILLIAM (2) put the end to a winning drought here two starts back when powering up from gate 2 to find the front and take them all the way. Setting the tempo here on Saturday night when wilting late, he can use the gate to get to the front and be gripping on in the stretch.

CANT REFUSE (8) tackled a strong Final last start where he retreated from gate 6 and was too far back in the pack as UNCLE SHANK landed the win. Strong to the line two starts back, he will be probing.

BELLA BALL TERROR (3) settled in the running line last start but did not really get warm in the closing stages as OUR BONDI BEACH arrived. He has not been too far away of late and this looks more suitable.

SELECTIONS: COURAGEOUS SAINT (7), COREY WILLIAM (2), CANT REFUSE (8), BELLA BALL TERROR (3)
SUGGESTED BET: COURAGEOUS SAINT (7) to win

RACE NINE

After making his Aus debut in a strong 3YO contest 10 days ago, there would have been a bit more learnt from  MR IBIZA (10) after having no run or public trial in two months. Not entirely comfortable in his gait when a beaten fav behind DANGERZONE, he secures the chance to atone.

MI FURIOSO TORO (1) fired out from this gate three starts back and controlling it from the front was never in danger when claiming a huge 26m margin. Grafting outside the leader and holding on for the silver last start, he can set the target for them here.

SOHO CASABLANCA (3) eased into the running line from gate 6 last start when chasing to be just out of the money behind TEDDY DISCO. With even luck, he is a podium player.

GOLDIES A DELIGHT (4) tackled the Breeders Classic last start when finishing in the second half of the pack behind RACY ROXY. The gate stings, but she has podium claims.

SELECTIONS: MR IBIZA (10), MI FURIOSO TORO (1), SOHO CASABLANCA (3), GOLDIES A DELIGHT (4)
SUGGESTED BET: MR IBIZA (10) to win

RACE TEN

With 4 wins and a pair of 2nds in his 6 appearances this season, FRANCO NANDOR (10) will need to negotiate the second line. Runner-up to the airborne SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE last start, it followed a solid win from gate 6 over the Redcliffe sprint trip. He will need some factors in his favour but looks up to the task.

CLASSIE WASHINGTON (7) is undefeated since arriving in Qld with the Garrard stable and will go in search of four on the bounce here. Powering over the top of them from this gate last start after easing into the running line for a stylish victory, he has trialled since that last win and is a big threat.

ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (1) grabbed the bronze last start after settling in the running line from gate 2 and finishing 7m in arrears of the winner GENERAL MONTANA. From the gate come the options.

BE MY ROCK (3) is yet to find winning form since arriving from the West, however his recent performances have shown some improvement. Not suited when parked last start, he can chime in.

SELECTIONS: FRANCO NANDOR (10), CLASSIE WASHINGTON (7), ITZ CHEROKEE JACK (1), BE MY ROCK (3)
SUGGESTED BET: FRANCO NANDOR (10) to win
