THE QUEENSLAND RACING CARNIVAL IS WHERE CHAMPIONS EMERGE
Last year, it was Think About It and Kovalica that shone brightest, and this year the tradition continues.
The Winter Carnival kicks off with two bumper Group 2 races – the Queensland Guineas and the Victory Stakes – which will set the scene for an epic 10 weeks of racing.
More than $28 million in prize money will be up for grabs across the carnival, headlined by nine million-dollar races and more than 50 black-type features across 11 race meetings.
The Guineas has proven a great form race, with an honour roll including eventual Queensland Derby winner Kovalica and Epsom champion Private Eye.
The Victory marks the start of the BRC’s famous sprint series and has an equally impressive list of winners, headed in modern times by the local hero and King Of The Mountain winner Rothfire.
