GENERAL
 
The track rating given at 6:30 am this morning by the Club was a GOOD 4 and the rating remained a GOOD 4 for the entire program, which was contrary to the track rating advertised in some publications.
 
Race 1: COCA COLA OPEN H'CAP – 2200M
 
OUTRAGED – Approaching the 900m, attempted to improve and take up a position  trailing IRISH OPTIMISM one off the fence but was prevented from doing so by MORENDI shifting out and improving to its inside.
 
INGEEGOODBE – Shifted out when pulling hard after passing the winning post on the first occasion to a position outside the leader. In this incident, IRISH OPTIMISM, which was racing to the outside of INGEEGOODBE had to be steadied.
 
IRISH OPTIMISM – Had to be steadied after passing the winning post on the first occasion. Commenced to overrace when the pace steadied near the 1400m and was allowed to stride forward to race outside the leader near the 1200m.
 
Race 2: CASCADE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M
 
CAPTAIN PARKER – Bumped with DESIRABLE MISS rounding the home turn.
 
LIFESAVER – Trainer M. Dunn advised that, from the wide barrier, the horse would be ridden in a midfield position with cover if circumstances permit. Restrained at the start and settled at the rear of the field. Taken wider upon straightening. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure over the final 250m.
 
DESIRABLE MISS – Raced three wide without cover. Bumped by another runner rounding the home turn.
 
IL RICCIO – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: JIM BEAM QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1200M
 
YOU KNOW THE ONE – Had to be steadied from heels near the 500m and lost ground.
 
MISHANI HUSTLER – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn.
 
PLUMARO – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of BE JAY’S PRINCESS.
 
BACCARAT BABY – Raced greenly when placed under pressure rounding the home turn.
 
BE JAY’S PRINCESS – Became unbalanced when bumped on the hind quarters at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LASHONI – Overraced when leading in the early stages.
 
Race 4: CANADIAN CLUB QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1200M
 
SNITZ – Raced three wide in the early stages to a point near the 600m.
 
ABSOLUTLYPOSITIVLY – C. Whiteley explained at scale that it was not his intention to settle in a forward position but when caught wide in the early stages he elected to ride forward to gain a position one off the rails. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
UMBERTO – Had to be restrained from heels near the 800m.
 
BASARA – Had to be steadied from heels approaching the 800m.
 
JINX ‘N’ DRINX – Steadied close to the finishing line when tightened for room.
 
WAS IT WORTH IT – Became fractious in the horse stall area, was examined by the veterinary surgeon who reported that the horse had sustained an injury to the head, and was declared a late scratching at 12:25 pm.
 
SHESEES EVERYTHING – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to gain a position close to the rail. Shifted out to avoid heels near the 300m. J. Lloyd reported that he noticed when he left the enclosure the saddle was further forward than normal. He said that when he arrived at the barriers the horse was being fractious, and rather than have the gear adjusted and risk it not being able to be refitted, he elected not to have the filly resaddled.
 
CHE BELLA VITA – Slow to begin.
 
INDY BONBON – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MY DELILAH – Hampered at the start. Had to be restrained from heels near the 800m.
 
Race 5: MT FRANKLIN QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1615M
 
PINCH PASSION – Hampered at the start. Bumped by another runner for some distance approaching and passing the 1500m.
 
TROMMELSCHLAGEN – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
 
BOLD ASSASSIN – Bumped with PINCH PASSION for some distance approaching and passing the 1500m. Tightened for room near the 1300m when RIVAL MO (M. Murphy) shifted in. Apprentice Murphy was reprimanded.
 
IOWA – Slow to begin. Had to be restrained from heels when overracing near the 700m. Held up in the home straight until passing the 100m.
 
ANOTHER DOLLAR – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier and was ridden near the rear of the field. Raced ungenerously in the early stages.
 
DELANEY'S DESIRE – Had to be restrained from heels when overracing near the 700m.
 
BEACH DRUM – The offside winker became detached soon after the start.
 
DREAM WILDER – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
EPIC RANT – M. Cahill was fined $1000 for using the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards took into account the totality of whip use as well as jockey Cahill’s recent infringement of the whip rules.
 
RIVAL MO – Raced three wide in the early stages before being ridden forward to settle outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
Race 6: MAKERS MARK OPEN H'CAP – 1350M
 
HONEY TOAST – Had to be steadied when tightened for room near the 900m. Near the 200m had to be steadied away from the heels of OLD NORTH (D. Browne), which shifted out when not fully clear. D. Browne was reprimanded.
 
FLAMBOYER – Began awkwardly and bumped another runner. Had to be eased near the 900m when tightened for room.
 
MIGHTY LIKE –Blundered at the start. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Bumped by SHE’S MISS DEVINE (P. Hammersley) when weakening near the 250m. P. Hammersley was advised to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.
 
OLD NORTH – Slow to begin.
 
BIDII BABE – Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. Hampered at the start when bumped. Cast the off fore plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have a slow post-race recovery rate. Trainer R. Heathcote advised that the filly will be now spelled.
 
CAPETOWN HUSSEY – Hampered soon after the start.
 
DIVINE SERVICE – Commenced to pull hard after the 1100m and was unable to be restrained for some distance.
 
SHE’S MISS DEVINE – Had to be restrained from heels near the 900m. Raced in restricted room between the 700m and the 500m to the inside of MIGHTY LIKE (B. Stewart), and approaching the 400m had to be steadied when tightened for room by that runner. B. Stewart was reprimanded. Shifted out near the 250m and made contact with another runner.
 
Race 7: SPRITE BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1200M
 
I’M ALONE – Slow to begin. Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 900m.
 
BARNSLEY – Raced three wide without cover.
 
RICH AFFAIR – Had to be checked when tightened for room near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HAPPY HOOVES – Had to be checked passing the 900m and shifted out, bumping another runner.
 
DREAM MASTER – Required resaddling at the barriers.
 
MEHMETO – Raced three wide.
 
ADERITO – Hampered at the start when bumped by another runner.
 
WIRNPA – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner. Bumped heavily on the hind quarters near the 900m. Raced three wide.
 
GYPSY MISS – Apprentice T. Marshall was severely reprimanded for failing to relieve tightening to runners to his inside near 900m.
 
Race 8: COKE ZERO BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1615M
 
FIRST CRUSH – Raced three wide. Hampered and forced wider when bumped by another runner near the 1200m.
 
GLENDARA – Hampered at the start.
 
SAGA MISS – Hampered at the start.
 
STONECAST – Raced three wide.
 
ROSIE POSIE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover.
 
KUBIS – Trainer R. Heathcote reported that following the horse’s disappointing performance, he will now spell the gelding.
 
BOLD AND GROOVY – Had to be steadied from heels near the 1200m.
 
VAULTING AMBITION – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and hampered SAGA MISS. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
COLOUR OF MONEY – R. Fradd reported that he could offer no excise for the horse’s poor performance. Although trainer C. Anderson undertook to advise stewards of anything that comes to light in the days following the event that may have had an effect on the horse’s performance, he was reminded by stewards to ensure that his horses remain on course for the required time following a race.
 
BENFICA PRINCESS – Pulled hard in the early stages and near the 1200m got its head up when being restrained from the heels of SOCIAL VAMPIRE and shifted out and made contact with another runner.
 
BINARY – As J. Taylor was riding at the Gold Coast and unable to fulfil his engagement, B. Grylls was substituted as rider. Stewards accepted jockey Taylor’s explanation for his failure to fulfil this engagement.
 
Race 9: CASCADE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1350M
 
LAST ARMAGEDDON – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
MUSTARRID – R. Fradd was fined $200 for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
 
SALMANAZAR – When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding approaching and rounding the home turn, whereby the horse shifted out and allowed a stablemate, BRIGADOON RISE, to gain a run to his inside, J. Lloyd advised that his mount never travelled in the early stages and had to work hard to reach a position outside the leader at the 800m. He said the horse was under pressure passing the 600m and soon after, on straightening, shifted out when weakening. The explanation was noted. A post-race veterinary examination revealed abrasions to the offside stifle. A swab sample was taken.
 
DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
BRIGADOON RISE – Hampered at the start when tightened for room.
 
SEA THE SPARKLE – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier to gain a position close to the rail.

OINK – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIORITISE – Overraced in the middle stages and had to be restrained from heels near the 600m. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the straight until passing the 200m.
 
QUICK KETCH – Raced three wide.
 
OF THE DAY – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 250m.
