GENERAL
 
As S. Cormack was indisposed due to injury stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: Pullman Brisbane Airport Hotel Benchmark 85 Handicap – 1200m
 
KHALEESI – Bumped at the start. Lost a near fore plate in running.
 
MISS IANO – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
WEINHOLT – Overraced in the middle stages. Inconvenienced between the 300m and 200m when tightened for room between GRUNDERZEIT and LIMERICK MOON, which shifted out after being bumped by TYCOON ACE. Again inconvenienced near the 100m when tightened for room. Raced wide throughout.
 
KIMBERLEY STAR – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
SONY LEGEND – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was obliged to alter course to the inside of SAIPAN near the 250m, following which it was reluctant to improve when racing inside other runners. Raced wide throughout.
 
LIMERICK MOON – Leaving the 300m was bumped by TYCOON ACE.
 
MY LITTLE FLICKA – Leaving the 100m had to be eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of BEAT STREET, which shifted in marginally.
 
GRUNDERZEIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
TYCOON ACE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
BEAT STREET – Jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount laid out throughout.
 
 
Race 2: LED Superscreens Class 6 Handicap – 1600m
 
MONTEUX – Connections advised the horse would be ridden back from the wide barrier if circumstances permitted. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
SERGEANT BLAST – Fractious in the barriers and was slow to begin. Upon straightening was disappointed for a run between SAVANNAH ROSE and DIVINE UNICORN and approaching the 200m was obliged to shift to the outside of DIVINE UNICORN to secure clear running.
 
PRIVATE HERO – Slow to begin.
 
EL CAMPEADOR – Bumped at the start.
 
KINCAPLE CHIEF – Began awkwardly.
 
CHILLIN WITH DYLAN – Near the 1400m had to be eased from the heels of KINCAPLE CHIEF.
 
SABKHAT – Overraced near the 1400m when being restrained to obtain cover.
 
DIVINE UNICORN – Laid in upon straightening. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
SAVWELL – Near the 250m was disappointed for a run to the outside of RED PRINCE and was obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
 
SAVANNAH ROSE – Laid in for the majority of the event.
 
CORNROW – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in the early stages App T. Marshall stated that he was under the same instructions at the geldings previous start at Tamworth to be positive however, due to the genuine pace on that day CORNROW got further back than anticipated. App Marshall stated that the horse began well today and when caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to take up a position in the lead.
 
 
Race 3: Canadian Club Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1350m
 
Due to a miscommunication jockey M. Zahra was declared as the rider of ANNATIME. Jockey  B. El-Issa was subsequently declared as the replacement rider. 
 
LETS PARTY MARTY – Trainer D. Vandyke advised the horse would be ridden with cover if circumstances permitted. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
SKULDUGGERY – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
REALING – Slow to begin.
 
ZAMEX – Slow to begin.
 
ROCK SPUR – Slow to begin.
 
SECRET MO – Overraced in the early stages.
 
MANAYA – Overraced in the early and middle stages and as a consequence raced three wide with cover early and near the 800m improved onto heels and shifted out and raced four wide without cover for the remainder.
 
CADOGAN – Obliged to race in restricted room between the 1000m and 900m.
 
COURAGEOUS ROCK – Race wide throughout.
 
QUICK KETCH – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHAVISH – Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained an injury to the near fore tendon. A veterinary clearance will be required.
 
 
Race 4: City Property Services Bill Carter Stakes (Listed) – 1200m
 
ARCHERS PARADOX – Examined in the horse stall area and passed fit to run.
 
SIZZLING BELLE – Trainer N. Oliver advised the horse would be ridden more forward if circumstances permitted. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
EAWASE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
GREEN – Slow to begin. After leaving the 1000m was bumped heavily by MISS SARA and then obliged to race in restricted room for a considerable distance. Jockey B. Stewart (MISS SARA) was severely reprimanded.
 
MISS SARA – Shifted in and made contact with another runner after leaving the 1000m. Disappointed for a run after leaving the 200m and had to alter course.
 
SHAMURT – Held up between the 300m and 200m. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Raced wide throughout.
 
DRAM OF DELAGO – Eased over the concluding stages when placed in restricted room between runners.
 
AXELLA – Held up passing the 100m when disappointed for a run.
 
CLOCKWISE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: IPG Marketing Solutions Chief De Beers (Listed) – 1050m
 
SAVANNA AMOUR - Connections advised horse would be ridden back from the wide barrier if circumstance permitted. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
STELLARCRAFT – Slow to begin.
 
IRISH CONSTABULARY – Slow to begin.
 
NIETA – After leaving the 600m had to be steadied away from heels. Raced wide throughout.
 
HI IM BACK – Near the 400m was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: Japan Racing Assocation QTIS 3YO Plate – 1200m
 
UNLIKELY STORY – Slow to begin. Approaching the 800m was eased when tightened for room.
 
EQUAL BALANCE – Slow to begin.
 
CHAUFFEUR – Slow to begin. Near the 1100m was eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of CHAMP ELECT. Near the 1000m was severely bumped by UNLIKELY STORY, became unbalanced and lost ground. Approaching the 800m was checked when placed in restricted room to the inside of BOASTING, which shifted in and away from DIVINE MESSENGER. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt had sustained a puncture wound to the off side knee.
 
Jockey B. Stewart (UNLIKELY STORY) pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless riding under AR137(a) for directing his mount in across the heels of CHAMP ELECT near the 1000m, making heavy contact with CHAUFFEUR, which became severely unbalanced and then carried in further towards the running rail. Jockey Stewarts licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one (1) calendar month to commence midnight 23 May 2018 and expire midnight 23 June 2018. In issuing the charge of reckless riding and determining penalty stewards were mindful that jockey Stewarts actions had caused both CHAUFFEUR and its rider to become severely unbalanced. Stewards were also mindful that jockey Stewart had been severely reprimanded for a similar manoeuvre in an earlier race.
 
WINTER BRIDE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
DIVINE MESSENGER – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHAMP ELECT – A  post race veterinary examination revealed the filly had been galloped on sustaining a laceration to the outside cannon of the near hind. Lost a near hind plate.
 
FOX SWIFT - A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: Flight Centre BRC Sprint (Group 3) – 1350m
 
TOUGHERTHANTHEREST – Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden forward from the wide barrier if circumstances permitted. Unable to cross runners drawn to the inside and was obliged to race four wide without cover throughout. Hung out after leaving the 600m.
 
MAGSTOCK – Slow to begin.
 
SNIPPETS LAND – Slow to begin.
 
MOHER – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CHARLIE BOY – Hampered when placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Passing the 100m had to be steadied when disappointed for a run and was then held up over the concluding stages.
 
GO NICHOLAS – Overraced in the early stages. Held up over the concluding stages.
 
BASSETT – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
CANTBUYBETTER – Laid in in the home straight.
 
RUETTIGER – After leaving the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners. Raced wide throughout.
 
PRIVLAKA – Jockey C. Williams lost his whip near the 150m. Raced wide throughout.
 
MR SNEAKY – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 8: Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup (Group 1) – 2000m
 
OREGONS DAY – Overraced in the early stages.
 
VIOLATE – Caught wide in the early stages and was ridden forward to settle outside the leader.
 
TOM MELBOURNE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SATONO RASEN – Near the 1600m was eased when tightened for room by EGG TART, which was taken in by COMIN THROUGH, which laid in.
 
LIFE LESS ORDINARY – Near the 1600m was checked and made heavy contact with the running rail when tightened for room by AMBITIOUS, which was taken in by ABBEY MARIE. Held up rounding the home turn. Jockey M. McGillivray (ABBEY MARIE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1600m when insufficiently clear of AMBITIOUS, which was taken in onto LIFE LESS ORDINARY, which had to be checked making heavy contact with the running rail. Jockey McGillivrays licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of thirteen (13) days to commence midnight 26 May 2018 and expire midnight 8 June 2018.
 
AMBITIOUS – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Passing the 200m was unable to improve to the outside of COMIN THROUGH and shifted in in an effort to obtain a run to the inside of EGG TART however, was disappointed for that run leaving the 100m and obliged to alter course again.
 
COMIN THROUGH – Laid in for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 9: Amgrow Bright Shadow Quality (Listed) – 1200m
 
O RACHEL - Trainer C. Waller advised the horse would be ridden forward from the wide barrier if circumstances permitted. Blundered at the start and raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ANATOLA – Fractious in the barriers and began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance trainer M. Newnham was of the view that the mare raced flat today and as a consequence he will give it a freshen up prior to its next start. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
CRYSTAL FOUNTAIN – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped OF THE DAY. Overraced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
OF THE DAY – Bumped at the start. Steadied away from heels after leaving the 800m and again at the 700m.
 
SWAMPLAND – Slow to begin.
 
DENMAGIC – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
HERMOSA BEACH – Raced wide throughout.
