SUPPLEMENTARY
From Doomben Race Meeting Saturday 29 February 2020 – Race 6
Co-trainer T. Sears reported that EXONDABEACH underwent an endoscopic examination on 2 March 2020, which revealed a small amount of mucopurulent discharge in the trachea.  No abnormalities were discovered in the upper respiratory tract. A blood count taken showed a slight increase of white blood cells and inflammation. Mr Sears advised that the filly will now receive a course of antibiotics and continue with its current campaign.
 
Race 1:  Paddyfest 14 March Maiden Plate – 1350m


CAIRNDOW – Began awkwardly.
EULEILAH – Began awkwardly.
HARD CURRENCY – Held up rounding the home turn.
COME IN SPINNER – Raced greenly in the home straight and shifted ground on a number of occasions, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten.
BEACHBREAK – Laid in under pressure over the final 150m.
STEEL PIER – When asked to explain the performance App B. Nothdurft stated that the gelding travelled reasonably well throughout the event and he followed the eventual winner. However, rounding the home turn when asked to quicken the gelding failed to respond to his riding. App Nothdurft added that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited in races further than that of today’s distance.
 
Race 2: Moet & Chandon Chairmans Club QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1350m


LADY BELZONE – Slow to begin, shifted outwards on jumping and lost considerable ground. Held up form the 500m until approaching the 350m.
BESTIE – After passing the 1100m when being restrained by its rider to allow EXPLOSIVE QUALITY to cross forward it threw its head in the air and resented being restrained. Approaching the 600m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Rounding the home turn was unable to secure clear running to the outside of BUCKETS OF PRIDE and to the inside of APPLECROSS, then raced greenly and shifted in away from APPLECROSS.
BUCKETS OF PRIDE – Passing the 1100m commenced to overrace and had to be shifted out to avoid the heels of EXPLOSIVE QUALITY.
SOMNIA – Approaching the 700m improved onto heels and had to be steadied and shifted outwards.
BRISBANE BOY – Passing the 700m was forced three wide by SOMNIA, which shifted out.
JERRY ZANDA – Approaching the 400m had to be steadied when crowded for room by BESTIE, which shifted in.
 
Race 3: Souths Sports Club Maiden Handicap – 1110m


Trainer K. Schweida was fined $100 for the late declaration of App S. Thornton as the rider of SUNLANDER.
PAPILLIO – Trainer K. Schweida advised the intention would be to have the filly settle in a worse than midfield position if circumstances permit. The filly was ridden accordingly.
The start was slightly delayed when PERFECT QUALITY proved difficult to load.
ANGUS THE BLACK – Began awkwardly.
HOPEFUL STAR – Began awkwardly and bumped with MAS DINERO. Approaching the 150m improved onto heels of the tiring SUNLANDER and had to alter course sharply to the inside.
MAS DINERO - Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Approaching the 200m brushed PERFECT QUALITY.
PERFECT QUALITY – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition. Approaching the 800m when racing keenly had to be steadied away from the heels of SUNLANDER. Approaching the 200m brushed MAS DINERO.
PAPILIO – Approaching the 800m when being restrained to obtain a position one wide at the rear of the field became awkwardly placed at the heels of HOPEFUL STAR and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover from the 700m onwards.
Jockey B. Stewart was stood down by the Club’s Doctor following his ride in this event and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 4.
 
Race 4: Memberships @ BRC Class 5 Handicap – 1615m


COASTAL PRINCE – Blundered on jumping. Passing the 1400m when being restrained to allow COUNTESS DE GALVEZ to cross threw its head in the air and raced ungenerously. Then continued to race keenly until passing the 800m. Held up rounding the home turn.
COUNTESS DE GALVEZ – Approaching the 800m had to be eased when crossed by OCEAN WAVES.
LE DUDE – Approaching the 700m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Approaching the home turn again improved onto heels and had to be restrained and was held up from the 500m until passing the 300m.
HENRY’S ON COURSE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
OCEAN WAVES – Lost a near hind plate in running.
 
Race 5: Family Raceday 4 April Colts, Geldings & Entires Class 1 Handicap – 1200m


As J. Orman was overweight Stewards permitted R. Fradd to be substituted as the rider of SAUTE. Jockey Orman was fined $100. In determining penalty Stewards were mindful of his exemplary record in regards to this Rule.
The start was delayed when SAUTE proved difficult to load. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that the gelding would have to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
SCO MO EAGLE – Bumped on jumping.
DEEP STATE – Began awkwardly and bumped SCO  MO EAGLE. After passing the 1000m commenced to race keenly and had to be restrained from the heels of CHRISTMAS CREEK.
BLACKLOG – Slow to begin.
FA FA – Held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the 300m had some difficulty obtaining clear running.
HAALAN – Held up rounding the home turn.
CHRISTMAS CREEK – Approaching the 300m was bumped by FA FA, which was endeavouring to shift out to improve.
 
Race 6: BRC Events Fillies & Mares Class 1 Handicap – 1200m
 
LADY EIGHTY EIGHT – Slow to begin.
SPIRIT RICH – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader passing the 800m.
ZOULOU DANCER – Began awkwardly and then threw its head in the air. After passing the 900m improved onto heels and resented being restrained.
MISS SILKY – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied away from the heels of MISHANI BLOSSOM. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
MISHANI BLOSSOM – Held up rounding the home turn. Lost a near hind plate in running.
SPLENDARAMA – Approaching the 400m raced in restricted room and was held up until approaching the 300m.
CANDY FLOSS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 7: TAB Benchmark 65 Handicap – 1615m


SKYLIGHT – Bumped shortly after the start. Passing the 1400m had to be steadied away from the heels of MOTHER TO RACE HER.
 
PEXBURY AVENUE – Bumped shortly after the start. Approaching the 400m was crowded for room between BASANITE and ROCK ‘N’ SOL, which shifted out to improve. Jockey M. McGillivray (ROCK ‘N’ SOL) was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
 
GRANDIOSO – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.
 
ANARCHY – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
BASANITE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer F. Blanch was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again.
 
 
Race 8:Gallopers Sports Club Class 3 Plate SW – 1350m
 
THE BIG EATER – Began awkwardly.
INVIGORATING – Bumped on the hind quarters on jumping.
PLENTY – Began awkwardly. After passing the 600m improved onto the heels of REST OF THE WORLD and had to be restrained. Rounding the home turn bumped with INVIGORATING and became unbalanced. When asked to comment on the performance Jockey R. Maloney stated that the horse travelled well throughout the event however, when placed under pressure in the home straight proved disappointing.
LASHONI – After travelling 100m when in a midfield trailing position commenced to overrace, resented being restrained and threw its head in the air on a number of occasions. Held up rounding the home turn and was unable to secure clear running until approaching the 250m.
FOXPACK – Raced keenly in the middle stages when in the position behind the leader. Held up rounding the home turn and then had to alter course back to the inside approaching the 300m.
