Trainer Les Jamieson was found guilty of a charge under AR175(q) for misconduct in that he used foul and abusive language towards the Sample Collection Official and Race Day Veterinary Surgeon in the swabbing stall following Race 1. In considering penalty, stewards took into account Mr Jamieson’s record, time in the industry as a trainer and personal circumstances however stewards were also mindful of the tirade of abuse towards the two officials. Subsequently, Trainer Les Jamieson was fined $1000 for the offence however stewards acting under the provisions of AR 196(4) deemed that $500 be suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition that Mr Jamieson does not reoffend under AR 175(q) in that period.
 
 
Race 1: Central Highlands Regional Council Maiden Plate 1000m
 
The start of this race was put back to 1:45pm due to an ongoing steward’s inquiry. Succeeding this all other races were put back 15 minutes to accord with the change to Race 1.
 
AGUERO – Was declared a late scratching at 1:15pm by stewards acting on advice from Trainer Barry Fitzgerald, who was the proxy trainer for the day, that it was unable to be loaded on the float and transported to the course from the showgrounds. As no bets were taken for this horse, no deduction were ordered.
 
SHEDRIVES MECRAZY – Slow into stride.
 
UINSAIN – Slow into stride.
 
JUZOU – Rider report that the horse hung out from the 700m to the home turn.
 
MURTAHOME – Raced wide for the majority. Jockey K Aho was reprimanded for shifting in when not clear at the 500m.
 
SERIOUS CAPER – Checked and lost ground at the 500m when crossed by another runner.
 
CLASSIC WIND – Jockey C Bryen was fined $200 for returning to scale overweight.
 
Race 2: Emerald Jockey Club QTIS Ratings Band 0 – 55 Handicap 1000m
 
TESSINO – Slow into stride.
 
LASSZOU – Slow to begin and failed to show any early speed.
 
HARCOURT STREET – App. E Smith pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a), the specifics of the charge being that App. E Smith allowed her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of EXCEL WITH REWARD resulting in that runner checking and shifting out across her heels. In considering penalty stewards took into account App. Smith’s
 
FIDEREUS – Had to be steadied at the 650m when crossed by another runner. Rider made application to view the photo finish prior to correct weight. After doing so was satisfied with the judge’s placing and correct weight was subsequently declared on the judge’s semaphored placings.
 
EXCEL WITH REWARD – Raced wide for the majority.
 
Race 3: Cliff Tucker Plumbing BenchMark 65 Handicap 1000m
 
FRENCH SONG – Checked by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
POETIC SHOW – Slow into stride.
 
OSSENHAGEN – Slow into stride. Held up for a short distance in the straight.
 
Race 4: Become A Member of the EJC BenchMark 45 Handicap 1200m
 
SEA CITY – Slow into stride. Pulled up lame after the race. After undergoing a veterinary inspection it was found to be suffering a tendon injury in the off fore leg. Trainer D O’Brien was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required prior to racing again.
 
MIM’S POET – Began awkwardly and as a result was slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
 
BELLA SONG – Over raced from the 900m to the 600m.
 
PRINCESS RHYTHM – Rider made application to view the photo finish prior to correct weight. After doing so was satisfied with the judge’s placing and correct weight was subsequently declared on the judge’s semaphored placings.
 
Race 5: Eat St Is Back For 2018 BenchMark 60 Handicap 1300m
 
MOUNTAIN RETREAT – Jumped in at the start forcing HALFBLOOD PRINCE inwards onto PURSUITOFHAPPINESS resulting in PURSUITOFHAPPINESS bumping MISTY ISLAND.
 
TUXEDO BOY – Bumped at the start.
 
ATEACES – Bumped at the start.
 
MISTY ISLAND – Raced wide throughout.
