GENERAL
 
As Jockeys Michael Hellyer and Luke Dittman were indisposed due to illness, Stewards permitted rider replacements as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
RACE 1: Aquisfarm.com QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 900m
1st: Deep Lead 2nd: Conspicuous 3rd: Von Rosen 4th: Lulu Express
 
Trainer M Palmer was fined the sum of $100 for negligently engaging Jockey D McLellan as the rider on DEEP LEAD. As Jockey McLellan did not accept the engagement, he was subsequently replaced by Jockey B Ainsworth when he was unable to make the weight.
 
The start was delayed when STEPHS BELLE proved difficult to load. A warning will be placed on the fillys barrier manners.
 
VICTORY STAR – Slow to begin.
 
MOSSERATI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
CONSPICUOUS – Shortly after the start, was hampered when placed in restricted room. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer B Lockwood will be advised that a veterinary clearance is required prior to the geldings next start.
 
MIRACLE WORKER – Laid in throughout the event making contact with the running rail at the 600m and again at the 400m.
 
LULU EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
STEPHS BELLE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
TOBASCO – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
GWAPO - Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 2: Aquisrace2win.com Syndication F&M Maiden Handicap – 1400m
1st: Akage 2nd: Signoria 3rd: River of Love 4th: Fusspot
 
MAGIC ANNA – Fractious in the barriers.
 
ANDANTE - Slow to begin. A post-race veterinary examination revealed swelling to the off fore extensor tendon. A veterinary clearance will be required before the fillys next race start.
 
BELLAS SHADOW - Slow to begin.
 
FAST SUN - Shortly after the start had to be steadied when placed in restricted room. Inconvenienced near the 300m by MILITARY EXPRESS which was take out marginally by AKAGE.
 
SWEET CAVIAR - Shortly after the start had to be eased when placed in restricted room. Over-raced in the early stages and as a consequence the saddle slipped forward leaving the 1000m placing the rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. The mare was subsequently eased out of the race rounding the home turn.
 
FOXLEIGH – Raced wide without cover in the early stages and was ridden forward to obtain a position outside the leader.
 
FUSSPOT – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 3: Follow @ Aquis Farm on Twitter C,G&E Maiden Handicap – 1400m
1st: Wind in the Willow 2nd: Delago Edition 3rd: Wear the Fox Hat 4th: Korma
 
The start was delayed when LETS GO CHAMP proved difficult to load. A warning will be placed on the colts barrier manners.
 
BUXTON - Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and lost significant ground. Trainer M Webb indicated that he would give the gelding a short spell and look at removing the blinkers prior to its next start. Mr Webb was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate before starting again.
 
HEART OF TOORAK – Slow into stride. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
GLAMORGAN LAD – Began awkwardly.
 
KUIPER – Shortly after the start had to be eased when placed in restricted room. Commenced to over-race for some distance thereafter and leaving the 900m had to be checked from the heels of ELLERSLEY, shifted out and raced wide without cover from that point onwards.
 
DELAGO EDITION – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced leaving the 900m when KUIPER shifted out.
 
GO DIXIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
KORMA - Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the event. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BACK CHAT – Held up during the early stages of the home straight to a point passing the 200m.
 
ELLERSLEY – When questioned Trainer K Schweida expressed some disappointment in the performance of the gelding today. For future starts he may step the gelding up to a distance further than today’s event and if possible would instruct the riders to try and lead on the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RACE 4: Aquis Farm Racehorse Retirement Program Class 1 Handicap – 1800m
1st: Master Dame 2nd: Dauphin De France 3rd: Nordic Show 4th: Mr Attitude
 
BEERINAWINEGLASS - Slow to begin.
 
NORDIC SHOW - Slow to begin. Near the 1500m had to be steadied from heels. Obliged to race wide rounding the home turn.
 
MR BOOMBASTIC - Slow to begin.
 
DAUPHIN DE FRANCE - Raced wide in the early stages and was then forced to race wide over the final 600m.
 
REAL NATURAL - Blundered of its own accord leaving the 700m.
 
MR ATTITUDE - Held up rounding the home turn.
 
RACE 5: Gatsby Girls Luncheon March 17 BenchMark 58 Handicap – 900m
1st: Jest Excel 2nd: Clint 3rd: Brilliant Diva 4th: Dragon Street
 
PERDU - Blundered on jumping away.
 
ALASTRIONA - Bumped at the start by REGNANT which began awkwardly and shifted in.
 
REGNANT - Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m was steadied when placed in restricted room between ALASTRIONA and JAKUTA both of which shifted ground. Approaching the 200m had difficulty improving to the outside of SET WAIT as a result of CAPITAL CITY racing directly to its outside and was then disappointed for a run to the inside of DRAGON STREET before shifting out and again being disappointed for a run between DRAGON STREET and CLINT. Near the 100m REGNANT was unable to improve to the outside of CLINT in order to avoid causing interference to CAPITAL CITY.
 
CLINT - Bumped when tightened for room at the start.
 
CAPITAL CITY - Near the 500m had to be steadied from the heels of SET WAIT which hung out and in doing so lost ground.
 
SET WAIT - Hung out passing the 500m.
 
DRAGON STREET - Raced wide without cover throughout. Cast an off hind plate in running.
 
BRILLIANT DIVA - Raced wide throughout and was inconvenienced by CAPITAL CITY near the 500m when that runner shifted out.
 
RACE 6: Jewel of the Coast Raceday March 17 Class 4 Handicap – 1200m
1st: Amenzel 2nd: Viaductress 3rd: Kylies Fame 4th: Smashed It
 
Trainer M Eggleston was fined the sum of $100 for the late declaration of Jockey A Spinks on MINI MELD.
 
PRECISION STRIKE - Fractious in the barriers.
 
VIADUCTRESS - Slow to begin.
 
DUSTMAN - Slow into stride.
 
SUGAR RAY RED - Raced wide without cover during the early and middle stages.
 
SMASHED IT - Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
WITNESS – Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
RACE 7: Free Entry CNY Raceday Feb 17 BenchMark 80 Handicap – 1400m
1st: Plucky Girl 2nd: Atouchmore 3rd: Desmons Pride 4th: Round Mountain Gem
 
DOUBLE IMPACT - Raced wide without cover throughout. Dropped whip near the 300m.
 
BAROQUE GIRL - Approaching the 500m taken wider on the track by DESMONS PRIDE which shifted out to improve.
 
MOTION GRANTED - Near the 500m had to be steadied from the heels of BAROQUE GIRL when that horse was taken outwards by another runner.
 
CAUTHENS POWER – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Kelly reported that the gelding did not appreciate todays firm surface.
 
RACE 8: Chinese New Year Raceday Class 2 Handicap – 1400m
1st: Diamonds Are 2nd: Mobile 3rd: Rainbow Lace 4th: Coulthard
 
MOBILE - Slow to begin.
 
MADLUCE MISSILE - Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running to the outside of RITCHFORD during the early stages of the home straight.
 
COULTHARD - Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
CLIODHNA - Leaving the 900m had to be steadied when tightened for room by RITCHFORD which shifted in. Raced wide throughout. When weakening near the 250m had to be steadied when tightened for room between GEILEIS and WOLF TALES which shifted out marginally.
 
RITCHFORD - Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
GEILEIS - Raced wide for the majority of event.
 
WOLF TALES – Near the 200m had to be steadied when tightened for room between GEILEIS and MADLUCE MISSILE which shifted out when improving to the outside of RITCHFORD which shifted out and away from SHAOLIN KUNGFU.
