Race 1: Merry Xmas BenchMark 55 Handicap 1517m
 
RESET EXPRESS – Knuckled badly on jumping.
 
YOU CAN’T BE – Rider reported that the horse was disappointing. He stated that the gelding had travelled well in the early stages and had been placed under pressure in the middle stages. Rider could offer no further explanation.
 
LOGICAL OUTCOME – Raced wide throughout
 
Race 2: Great Northern Maiden Plate 850m
 
RACEY CHICK – Fractious in the enclosure. Dislodged the rider, broke through running rail and was recaptured at the barriers. Declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:00pm. All bets on RACEY CHICK were to be refunded and any successful bets to be subject to the following deductions: 7 cents win 9 cents place.
 
SIGHTLY – Jumped out taking MILALBA out and SWEET NOTE to be hampered. Commenced to hang out near the 600 etresm and near the 400 metres checked from heels and lost ground. Trainer L Kiernan was advised that the horse would be required to barrier trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
SALTY’S BOY and PETITE ELLE – Made contact at the start.
 
Race 3: Crown Lager BenchMark 60 Handicap 850m
 
FRAHA – Began awkwardly.
 
ELDIYM – Began awkwardly.
 
MADAM PINK – Began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
 
SEVEN TEN SPLIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
TABRIZ – Permitted to race bare behind when it lost a plate en route and it was unable to be replaced. Rider reported that the horse felt sore in the front. A post-race veterinary examination failed to find any abnormalities.
 
BULLETIN BELLE – A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the horse to be lame in the near fore leg. The horse was treated and a veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next race start.
 
Race 4: Carlton Dry BenchMark 45 Handicap 1000m
 
MANDOLIN MANNI – Kicked on entering the enclosure by the clerk of the course. Was inspected by the veterinarian and cleared to start. Difficult to load. Reared and harmlessly dislodged the rider. Commenced to lose ground from the 600 metres. Rider stated that with the addition of blinkers for the first time, it seemed to resent the sand kickback.
 
DEBBIE’S DREAM – Jumped awkwardly into the barrier partition and took an awkward stride shortly after and lost some ground.
 
MUDCRAB – App. R Shred was issued with a reprimand under AR175(k) for failing to weigh out with irons attached to her saddle.
 
Race 5: Trish Collins BenchMark 65 Handicap 1194m
 
ROSIE’S SON – Jumped out, laid out shortly after the start and made contact with THIN DISGUISE on a number of occasions. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
THIN DISGUISE – Raced wide throughout.
 
EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN – Raced wide throughout.
