GENERAL
 
Due to heavy traffic in the area impacting on arrival times of jockeys and runners at the track, the starting times of Races 4, 5 and 6 were rescheduled back one race time, with Race 7 rescheduled to 7:15 pm.
 
Race 1: EUMUNDI LAGER C,G&E CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M
 
PERFECT STYLE – Fractious in the barriers and then began awkwardly.
 
SATAN DA – D. Browne was dislodged from his mount behind the barriers. Following the event jockey Browne was examined by the Club doctor and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. Began awkwardly. Commenced to overrace near the 800m and improved into restricted room near the 700m and had to be checked. When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, jockey D. Browne indicated that his mount raced greenly and overraced in the middle stages causing it to be checked near the 700m. He was also of the opinion that this had a detrimental effect on the horse’s overall performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
NEW ALLIANCE – S. Bogenhuber reported that her mount was inclined to hang out throughout the event.
 
BEBADO – After being bumped by another runner near the 750m, was inclined to lay in and lost ground as a result and then continued to lay in for the remainder of the event.
 
ATOMIC MISSILE – Slow to begin.
 
FORDYCE KNIGHT – Had to be restrained to avoid heels near the 700m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 2: FURPHY F&M CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M
 
TAY SWIFT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
LIBERTY LASS – D. Browne was asked to comment on the horse’s performance. He indicated that it had been his intention to ride in a forward position, however, the filly began awkwardly and was slow to muster speed and he was therefore obliged to take up a position in the second half of the field where the horse did not race comfortably and was somewhat field shy. He added that in his opinion the horse is better suited to rain-affected track conditions and that today’s good surface may have had a bearing on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
BRUTAL BABE – Raced wide without cover.
 
HONOUR PROMISE – Raced wide without cover.
 
ULTRONEOUS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 3: JAMES SQUIRE BENCHMARK 62 H'CAP – 1800M
 
As J. Woodhouse was to be overweight, J. Taylor was substituted as the rider of GYPSY WILD. J. Woodhouse was fined $100.
 
As J. Orman and R. Palmer were delayed arriving on course due to traffic difficulties, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
CASHINKO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SPLENDID STRYKER – Overraced in the early stages and was then checked from heels near the 1500m.
 
GYPSY WILD – Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: LITTLE CREATURES QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
SASIA – Improved on to heels after passing the 800m and had to be steadied. Shifted out and made heavy contact with another runner when attempting to secure clear running approaching the 400m, became unbalanced and was then shortly thereafter obliged to be checked to avoid heels. Bled from both nostrils during the event. The filly will now be ineligible to start for 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
THE PARTY GIRL – Raced wide throughout.
 
BRILEE ROSE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
LEOPARD QUEEN – Bumped by another runner approaching the 400m and became unbalanced. S. Cormack, the rider of SASIA, was reprimanded.
 
FAKE NEWS – Raced awkwardly shortly after the start and lost ground. Made contact with the running rail and had to be checked when tightened for room near the 900m. Stewards inquired into this incident and were satisfied that the tightening was caused when RELIABLE LASS (B. Stewart) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider at that point of the race and no further action was taken.
 
GEM OF THE LOCHS – Lunged at the barriers just prior to the start being effected, jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground. Bumped by another runner approaching the 400m and became unbalanced.
 
INDY BONBON – Raced wide throughout.
 
I’M SASSY – Slow into stride.
 
RELIABLE LASS – Held up rounding the home turn and had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CINZIA – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 5: BYRON BAY HAZY ONE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1600M
 
MANDLAKAZI – Slow to begin.
 
MEYIWA HITAM MAWAR – Raced three wide without cover before assuming the lead passing the 1000m.
 
GILDED LION – Overraced in the early stages and was obliged to steady when racing in restricted room near the 1200m. Shifted out despite the efforts of its rider near the 300m, causing interference to runners to the outside.
 
NIGHT WHISPER – Inconvenienced and had to be steadied from heels approaching the home turn. Had to be restrained from heels near the 300m.
 
FLYING PRINCE – Shifted wider by another runner near the 300m.
 
RISEUPSKATING – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: RICE BOI BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1600M
 
PRIVATE HERO – Slow to begin. Apprentice S. Lacy reported that her mount raced greenly throughout.
 
BETTABET RED – Overraced in the early stages before obtaining cover near the 1000m.
 
BUDGET BENDER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Connections advised that more than likely the horse would be retired from racing.
 
OUTSTRIP – Slow to begin.
 
BEAUMARIS – Obliged to alter course near the 150m to secure clear running.
 
Race 7: THE WHARF MOOLOOLABA CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M
 
As P. Hammersley was indisposed, B. Stewart was substituted as the rider of TECHNO SAVVY.
 
HAYLEE PRINCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
MONACO PLAYBOY – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages and was restrained from heels near the 800m before shifting wider on the track and then remained wide throughout.
 
TECHNO SAVVY – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
VISONA PLAYBOY – After being fractious and kicking out in its tie-up stall, the horse was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race. Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Raced wide without cover.
 
BOLD ASSASSIN – Overraced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. Checked from heels near the 400m. Trainer G. Taylor was asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance from the horse’s most recent start. He indicated that the horse had overraced in the early and middle stages and led, which is not the horse’s normal racing pattern, and in his opinion this affected the overall performance. Stewards also noted that tonight’s race was a step down in class from the horse’s most recent start.
