From Townsville, Thursday, 31.5.18
Race 1. Mater Health Services Benchmark 70 Handicap – 1609m

Apprentice M. Murphy was questioned in regards to his failure to attend the day’s meeting and subsequently having to be replaced by B. Thomson as the rider of Gunga Galunga.  Whilst stewards noted his explanation, he was nevertheless reprimanded and advised to inform authorities in similar circumstances.

From: Charters Towers Sunday 13 May 2018

Stewards on Thursday 7 June 2018 inquired into a complaint lodged by Licensed Bookmaker Ms. A Bode against Licensed Bookmaker Mr. L Mitchell, in that at the meeting of the Towers Jockey Club on Sunday May 13th, 2018, Mr. Mitchell refused to lay a runner to lose within the limits of the prescribed amount that a Bookmaker must stand to lose at a Thoroughbred racing venue in Queensland.

Stewards, after considering submissions from Ms. Bode, Mr. Mitchell, Licensed Bookmakers Clerks Mr. G Bode and Ms. L Mitchell, and examining Mr. Mitchell’s betting ledger, Stewards were of the opinion that there was insufficient evidence to establish that a breach of the Rules of Racing or Betting had taken place and as such no further action was taken other than to remind all parties of their responsibilities to work in a professional manner at all times.
From  Mackay Turf Club Saturday 26 May 2018

Race 1: MOJO BENCHMARK 60 H’CAP – 2000M

Stewards today inquired into the riding of Apprentice Zoe White, in the presence of senior rider C. Whiteley, when she was the rider of WINSOMORE, in particular into her whip action near the 150m.

After hearing submissions from Apprentice Z. White, on Ms Whites behalf from senior rider C. Whiteley and rider S. Wiseman (THE AROD).

“Any rider may be penalised if, in the opinion of the Stewards, [amended 1.9.09]

(a)  He is guilty of careless, reckless, improper, incompetent or foul riding.”
