WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4; UPGRADED TO GOOD 3 AT 11:50 RAIL – TRUE

General:

Upon arrival Stewards upgraded the track to Good 3 at 11:50am.

Jockey K Thomas was reprimanded for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m in Race 1 (MINI ME) and Race 5 (LIBERTY PEARL). Is assessing penalty Stewards were mindful that Ms. Thomas had only recently returned from a 7 year absence from race riding.

Race 1: BROWNLIE CONCRETORS MAIDEN PLATE - 800M

INDE ROAR- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

STAR CUGAT- Began awkwardly bumping another runner. Raced greenly for the majority. Clipped heels and blundered near the 600m when BEHIND THE THISTLE hung in despite the efforts of its rider.

BEHIND THE THISTLE- Bumped by another runner near the 700m.

RED MONKEY- Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event and laid in, in the home straight.

MY COUSIN STEVE - Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight and went to the line without being able to be fully tested.




Race 2: GJ GARDNER WARWICK/STANTHORPE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 800M

JEPTOO – Declared a late scratching at 11.20am on veterinary advice.

LUSHNESS- Blundered on jumping away.

CASH’N’RUN- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

OTOSHI- Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

GIPPSLAND BOY- Bumped at the start.

MIGHTY ROLLER- Began awkwardly and raced wide without cover throughout.

STORM ANCHOR- Apprentice G Willoughby was reprimanded for failing to claim down to her declared riding weight. Stewards questioned apprentice Willoughby in relation to her riding over the concluding stages of the event. Apprentice Willoughby advised that upon jumping away the gelding commenced to hang out and shifted wider on the track. She added that once in the home straight the gelding again had a tendency hang out and proved difficult to ride out and for that reason she didn’t place the gelding under pressure over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation of App.Willoughby however advised her that in their opinion an apprentice of her relative experience would be expected to place her mounts under greater pressure then she did on this occasion despite the horse hanging out. Stewards further advised App. Willoughby that they would be referring this ride to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training department for their attention.


Race 3: MAGIC MILLIONS MARCH YEARLINGS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1500M

HIGHTOWER- Hung out in the early stages.

WE BUILT THIS CITY- Lost an off fore plate in running.


Race 4: R & F STEEL BUILDINGS CLASS 3 PLATE - 1100M

ROCKY NUGGET- Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards acting on Veterinary Advice at 2:00pm after being found to be lame after shifting a plate.

SUIT- Raced wide without cover throughout.


Race 5: RAHEEN STUD/THE MALT HOUSE BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP- 1350M

GOLDEN DEPART – Trainer J. Gregory was reprimanded for the late declaration of apprentice Zoe White. Stewards took into account Mr Gregory’s good record in relation to this rule.

FONDUE- Bucked on jumping away and was retired from the event. Trainer T. Dougall was advised that FONDUE would be required to perform satisfactorily is a barrier trial prior to next start.

VOANABA- Improved onto heels near the 800m and shifted wider on the track making contact with another runner.

SALUTE THE PRINCE- Bumped by another runner near the 800m and was forced wider on the track for a short distance.

COURT RULES- Shifted out on a number of occasions in the home straight when placed under pressure.

GOLDEN DEPART- Raced greenly in the home straight.

FLEURIEU- Slow to begin.



Race 6: BE FLOORED BY ANDERSENS CLASS 3 PLATE – 2000M

PARELEMA- Prior to the event connections advised that it would be the intention to ride the horse in a more forward position than its’ previous starts. Subsequently obtained the leading position however over raced during the early and middle stages.

LUCKY THREE SEVENS- Raced wide in the early stages until ridden forward to a position outside the leady near the 1500m.

DARBADAR- Raced wide from the 1300m.

NAUTICAL LAD- Raced wide from the 800m.
