Race 2: John Cole Toyota Class B Handicap (1) 1000 metres:
1st – LEGENDARY PLUME 2nd – FAST ANNIE 3rd – DRAGON HEART 4th – KISSER

Following the running of this event Stewards inquired into an incident which took place near the 700 metres resulting in JOKES ASEIDE (B Cornell) losing ground and LOVE YA STYLE (App. B Swaffer) being severely checked and losing considerable ground. After considering evidence from the aforementioned jockeys, as well as W D’Avila who rode FAST ANNIE, App. M Kai who rode LEGENDARY PLUME and App. I Rabjones who rode BUCKANARA, and viewing the patrol films, it was established that as the tightly bunched field approached the 700 metres LEGENDARY PLUME (App. M Kai) and LOVE YA STYLE (App. B Swaffer) bumped resulting in LEGENDARY PLUME shifting in and making heavy contact with the hindquarters of FAST ANNIE (W D’Avila). As a result of this impact LEGENDARY PLUME became unbalanced and shifted back out abruptly onto the running of LOVE YA STYLE and JOKES ASEIDE (B Cornell). At the same time BUCKANARA (App.I Rabjones) shifted in marginally causing minor tightening to Jokes Aseide. As a number of factors had contributed to this incident Stewards formed the opinion that no individual rider could be held responsible and, as such, took no action other than to advise App. I Rabjones to excercise more care.
