BLANCHARD BLOOM – Began awkwardly.

CARLSON’S FELT – Stewards questioned apprentice N Yadi in regard to his ride and in particular why he remained racing one off the fence for the entirety. Apprentice N Yadi explained that he had been instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position. He said that after beginning well he rode his mount along in an attempt to comply with his instructions however when another runner to his inside showed superior speed he elected to remain racing on its outside in the lead. He added that in the middle stages he was able to work forward of the other runner however was unable to cross when he received numerous calls appealing for racing room. Apprentice N Yadi concurred with stewards that he should have made a greater effort in the middle stages when the tempo was slow to cross the runner to his inside which would have enabled him to dictate terms in front and not cover excessive ground.
