Race 1: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1000 metres

Stewards permitted jockey D Graham to ride FOR THE RECORDS 1kg over the carded weight.

KALMAR – Slow into stride and travelled wide for much of the race. Rider D Simmons was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.

OLIFANTS – Lay in rounding the first turn.

ALGEROBA – Lay in shortly after the start despite the efforts of the rider causing PURPLE TRUMPET to be eased. Lay in nearing the 800m having to be eased off heels and lay in down the straight. Trainer C. Prow advised he would experiment with gear and add a bubble cheeker to the gelding.

ELITE GREY – Bumped with PURPLE TRUMPET on jumping, hampered nearing the 800m when ALGEROBA lay in.

PURPLE TRUMPET – Eased off heels approaching the 900m when an outside runner shifted ground.

SAME OLD STORY – Slow into stride and travelled wide.


Race 2: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200 metres

SPICE TRADER was a late scratching at 10:51am due to an accident in the stables. Trainer T. Austin was advised a veterinary clearance of soundness will be required prior to the gelding’s next start.

VINCIT – Reared prior to the start unseating rider D Simmons. Awkward for several strides shortly after the start and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no abnormalities.

VIKING CLAP – Blundered on jumping, then manoeuvred outwards at the 120m to gain clear running.

VON’S HEROINE – Reared in the gates prior to the start dislodging rider C Collis.

SPALLINA – Lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

CHEEKY CHOPS – Stood flat footed causing the mare to be slow away.

RECONIS – Travelled wide for much of the race.

OUR GIRL TAMIYA – Travelled wide in the early stages.

FLOWER – Eased off heels shortly after the start when taking up a position on the rail.


Race 3: BATTLE OF THE BUSH BARCALDINE QUALIFER OPEN HANDICAP 1200 metres

ZUKAZ – Jumped inwards contacting another runner then travelled wide for much of the race with cover.

FULLY MAXED – Travelled wide for much of the race.

I WANNA BE A JEEP – Jumped outwards contacting another runner, then travelled wide in the middle and late stages.

ARGENTO PERLO – Contacted both sides when runners either side jumped awkwardly.

ZILITOR – Travelled wide for much of the race.

HAZAR – Lay in over the concluding stages when placed under pressure.


Race 4: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB CLASS 5 PLATE 1300 metres

Correct weight was delayed allowing jockey J Rudd and trainer H Forster to view the photo finish print to ascertain their finishing position. After being comfortably satisfied correct weight was given on the judge’s numbers.

Ashley Butler was the rider of DARK ARCHER and permitted to ride 2kg overweight.

BURDEN – Rider C. Collis was fined the sum of $700 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on one seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.

CHINCHINBILLA – Eased at the 50m when an outside runner shifted ground.

SPARMAN – Slow into stride and travelled wide for much of the race.

RATHER SILKY – Travelled wide for much of the race.

STRIKE POINT – Jumped away awkwardly. Nearing the 1200m while over racing manoeuvred inward to gain cover but had to be restrained off heels and was obliged to move outwards and travelled wide with cover. Lay in over the concluding stages hampering CHINCHINBILLA.



Race 5: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB MAIDEN PLATE 1300 metres

No incidents in running.


Race 6: BARCALDINE RACE CLUB CLASS 5 PLATE 1300 metres

SIZZLESUN – Slow to begin and lay in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages bumping TAKEN ON CHANCE.

PITCHI PITCHI – Travelled wide for much of the race.

TAKEN ON CHANCE – Slow to begin and bumped over the concluding stages.

ZORRO MACHO – Travelled wide for much on the race.

NICKSY BOY – Jumped away awkwardly.
