Race 1: THE KALKIE MOON DISTILLERY RATINGS BASED 0 - 60 H'CAP – 1212M
 
PRINCE OF VENICE – Blundered at the start.
 
LUCKY MACHU – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance, jockey L. McCoy stated that after beginning slowly her mount was unable to muster speed and was disappointing from the point onwards.
 
DIA VERNON – Began awkwardly.
 
GOSSIAUX – Trainer K. Afford was questioned in relation to the improved performance. He advised that the gelding was in a weaker class race today and believed it was able to settle in a more forward position and therefore he expected the horse to improve today.
 
DUAN PHOENIX – Apprentice S. Stephan reported that her saddle slipped back on jumping away and therefore placed her at a disadvantage throughout.
 
CELTIC TIGER – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: LIVINGSTONE LOW ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 50 H'CAP – 1090M
 
MAGIC PANTHER – R. Faehr was cautioned in relation to his whip use.
 
DIGGITY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
AXIS – Bumped at the start.
 
CRISSCROSS – Began awkwardly.
 
MOUNTEBANK – Bumped with another runner at the start.
 
MAMZAR – Apprentice S. Stephan was fined $100 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful that apprentice Stephan had never breached this rule before.
 
ROCKSHORE – Began awkwardly and bumped AXIS.
 
SENKO SIDRA – Bumped with another runner at the start.
 
SERAMASA – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
Race 3: RUM CITY FOODS QTIS BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1380M
 
The start of this race was delayed when SIP SIP SIP refused to load and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 2:27 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SIP SIP SIP be refunded, with no other alterations to betting. Trainer K. Hill was advised that a barrier certificate would be required for the mare prior to it racing again.
 
JOE ALBERT – Began awkwardly.
 
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Shifted out under pressure over the final stages.
 
LITTLE DRUMMER BOY – Apprentice D. McGillivray was reprimanded for failing to claim down to his minimum riding weight. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful that apprentice McGillivray was returning from a period of suspension.
 
Race 4: BUNDABERG TOYOTA MAIDEN PLATE – 1090M
 
PRICKLY TICK and SALEX SPIRIT were late scratchings at 8:00 am due to no suitable riders being available.
 
KELLETT – Began awkwardly.
 
MARCHEKY BOY – Slow to begin.
 
GOLDEN FEMME – Slow to begin. Jockey Phillips advised that the filly resented the kickback.
 
Race 5: 7NEWS RATINGS BASED 0 - 65 H'CAP – 850M
 
EMPEROR MAXIMILIAN – Slow to muster speed.
 
AFTER THE STORM – Began awkwardly. Post-race swab was unable to be collected from the filly after it became severally fractious in the swabbing stall. Stewards will contact Trainer K. Afford in relation to this matter at a later date.
 
Race 6: MARTO FARMS OPEN PLATE – 1212M
 
CHAMBERLAIN – When asked to explain gelding’s disappointing performance, apprentice T. Townsend stated that the horse was fractious prior to the start being effected, raced flat throughout and was very disappointing. Trainer R. Connolly advised that the horse may have come to the end of its preparation and that consideration will now be given to sending the gelding for a spell.
