RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1050 Metres
BINDA BOY – rider reported at scale raced greenly throughout.
DANCING VAGABOND – when questioned regarding tactics adopted in the first 400 metres, rider S Drake stated the gelding, which was having its first start, raced with its head in the air and was inclined to lay out in the early stages, and for this reason settled further back in the field than anticipated. She added DANCING VAGABOND was then able to work forward leaving the 700 metres, and in the straight made ground despite again having a tendency to layout when placed under pressure. S Drake further stated it now would be the stables intention to add blinkers and step the gelding up in distance. Stewards noted the explanation.
JUE JUE ANGEL – obliged to steady off heels approaching the home-turn
KAPFLYN – fractious in the preliminary resulting in rider being dislodged. Examined at barriers by Club vet and passed fit to start
LEILA’S CALL – raced wide throughout

RACE 3: CLASS 1HDCP 1200 Metres
Trainer B Robinson was fined $100 for failing to produce the identification card for TEN TORINOS.
Correct weight was delayed to allow J Stanley, rider of second placed ABITAZAR to view the photo finish image. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.
IMA GONSKI – slow to begin.
RACE 4: MAIDEN HDCP 1400 Metres
SABIUE was declared a late scratching at 3:16pm after App M Savva was dislodged from the mare during the preliminary. SABIUE subsequently galloped 2 circuits of the track before crashing through the outside running rail which required remedial work to be carried out on that section of the track. On declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all bets on SABIUE to be refunded in full with deductions of 6 cents win and 7 cents place to apply on all winning tickets. Trainer B Robinson was advised SABIUE would require a Vet certificate prior to its next race start. App Savva was cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements. As a result this event was delayed approximately 10 minutes.
PITBULL – An inquiry into the reason for the gelding appearing to stumble near the 600 metres dislodging rider R Jamieson was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. PITBULL was examined by Club vet subsequent to the event on 2 occasions and no abnormalities detected. Trainer K Fleming was advised PITBULL would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. After being treated on the track for a considerable time, R Jamieson was transferred to hospital for further treatment.
TORPEDO – slow to begin. Had to be steadied leaving 800 metres when pace eased, and a short distance later shifted out when being restrained off heels. Checked near 600 metres.

RICOCHET TOBY – hampered near 600 metres when rider dislodged
RACE 5: CLASS B HDCP 1400 Metres
The Start of this event was delayed approximately 45 minutes to allow medical officers to treat R Jamieson who was injured when dislodged from PITBULL in Race 4. Prior to the running of this event stewards examined the racing surface between the 800 metres and 600 metres where this incident took place and found the track conditions to be safe.
Stewards permitted F Jervis to replace the injured R Jamieson as the rider of RATHGIBBON.
JAYELEM – slow to muster speed in the early stages. A short distance after passing the winning post broke down in the off shoulder, dislodging App A Kitson. JAYELEM was subsequently euthanized on humane grounds. App Kitson was examined by club medical officers and cleared of any injury.
SMINCHA – When questioned regarding the below market performance, rider B Cornell stated the mare did not settle as well as expected when leading, and was inclined to over race in the early and middle stages of the event. He added SMINCHA has not started for 3 weeks and in his opinion would derive benefit from the run. Stewards accepted the explanation.
RATHGIBBON – raced wide for majority of event.
