RACE 1: BENCHMARK 45 HDCP 1050 Metres

HEY MURRI – jumped out at the start and hampered another runner.

BLOODED – slow to begin.

EMBER GLOW – Trainer D Brown fined $100 for late declaration of rider on that gelding.

CHOSEN COURT – raced wide for majority of the event.

BLESSINGS – when questioned regarding tactics applied and also vigour over the final 100 metres, rider F Jervis stated she was instructed not to apply the whip to the mare as it does not respond when ridden in that manner, and also that BLESSINGS is better suited to races over a longer journey. Stewards noted the explanation of F Jervis and reminded her to ride her mounts out fully to the line. Trainer K Hickmott confirmed the comments of F Jervis.

WONDERFUL TESS – blundered at the start and lost ground.

RHODRY – hampered at the start by another runner.

RACE 2: MAIDEN PLATE (C,G,E) 1200 Metres

On presentation to the saddling enclosure, a steward’s check revealed that the incorrect saddles and saddle cloth numbers had been placed on stable-mates DYNAMIC STAR and MEAL TICKET. At a subsequent inquiry trainer S Jones pleaded guilty to negligence under AR175(k) in that he placed the incorrect saddles and saddle cloth numbers on his respective runners and was fined $500. Stewards ordered both riders to re-weigh which resulted in a delay to this event.

CASLA – jumped out at the start and came together with another runner.

PERZERO – held up from 300 metres until after entering the home straight. Near 100 metres obliged to steady from heels when another runner shifted ground.

ROUGH KISS – declared late scratching at 2:42pm after rider was dislodged during preliminary, galloped a significant distance and broke through the outside running rail near the 1300 metres. On declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all bets on ROUGH KISS to be refunded in full with deductions of 12 cents win and 13 cents place to apply on face value of all winning tickets. Representative for trainer Q Kearney was advised ROUGH KISS must trial prior to next race start. Rider B Powell was cleared of any injury. The start of this race was further delayed to allow repairs to be carried out on the damaged outside running rail.

TOTAL SURPRISE – which was having its race start in over 12 months was examined by club Vet and cleared to start. Became fractious in the enclosure and when moving out onto the track. Trainer J Brown was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings pre-race manners.

WIG WAM BAM – slow to muster early speed.

BROWN LINES – hung out rounding the 700 metre turn.

RACE 3: MAIDEN PLATE (F&M) 1200 Metres

CHARMOR – obliged to steady away from heels of another runner near 1000 metres. Tightened for room and crowded by another runner leaving 800 metres.

MRS BOOLE – rider reported at scale hung out for majority of the event. A post race Vet exam failed to reveal any abnormality. Shifted out under pressure in home-straight and near 100 metres caused another runner to steady away from its heels. App S Lacy was advised to exercise more care.

O’SPACEHELLO – shifted in and crowded another runner leaving 800 metres. App A Spinks was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Lay in under pressure inside 100 metres resulting in rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount for a number of strides.

ROYAL ILLUSION – rider reported at scale had a tendency to lay out rounding 700 metre turn. Shifted out under pressure approaching 100 metres.

MARVEL CREATION – slow to begin. Obliged to steady from heels near 100 metres when another runner shifted out.

RACE 4: CLASS 1 HDCP 1200 Metres

Following declaration of correct weight on the numbers 3-4-6-1-2, the judge advised stewards that number 1 PITBULL had incorrectly been semaphored as fourth placegetter when on review it was found that number 7 SOMERSET DAWN had finished fourth. Acting under the provisions of AR156(3), and after reviewing the photo finish image stewards amended the placings to read 3-4-6-7-2.

PITBULL – began awkwardly shifted out and bumped another runner. When questioned regarding below market performance App T Williams stated the gelding, although travelling comfortably in the run, had a tendency to lay out leaving the 700 metres and when placed under pressure leaving the 600 metres did not finish the race off as strongly as expected. A post race Vet exam revealed PITBULL had sustained abrasions to both hind bumpers.

YANCHA BOY – raced wide for majority of the event.

FACE THE SUN – began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure in the straight.

ZANY LASS – slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

SPINIFEX FIRE – Trainer D Stafford was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration card for that runner.

SOMERSET DAWN – bumped by another runner at the start.

LITTLE BOMBER – made the 700 metre turn awkwardly and lost some ground.

RACE 5: OPEN HDCP 1350 Metres

MISHANI DE NERO – rider reported at scale was under pressure to hold a position for majority of the event and is better suited to races over a longer journey.

CHILLI BEACH – held up rounding the home-turn.

DELNIELLO – slow to begin, then reluctant to stretch out in the early stages of the event resulting in the gelding racing further back than expected.
