Race 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1050 Metres
 
GLAMORGAN LAD – declared a late scratching at 12:57 pm when the gelding was unable to be loaded.  On declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered all bets on GLAMORGAN LAD to be refunded in full with deductions of 12 cents win and 11 cents place on face value of all winning bets to apply.  SPs are subject to deductions.  Trainer G Cornish was advised the gelding will require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
HEY BROTHER – which was having its first race start, raced greenly in the early stages and near the 700 metres improved onto heels, had to be steadied, shifted out and bumped FRENESI.
 
MARINE CORPS – shifted out marginally and bumped POLE VOLTER near the 100 metres.
 
POLE VOLTER – bumped near the 100 metres.
 
SUIT UP DAN – jumped in at the start and bumped FRENESI.
 
DODGIES WAY – began awkwardly and lost ground.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
JAZZ ADELE – slow to begin.
 
MAGEQUILL – in the presence of jockey advocate Mr D Tanti, app N Keal pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 137(b) in that he failed to ride MAGEQUILL out to the end of the race.  Stewards were of the opinion his actions had cost MAGEQUILL fourth place and was subsequently fined the sum of $400.
 
FRENESI – bumped at the start.  Inconvenienced near the 600 metres.

TIME TO REMEMBER - raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 2: FILLIES & MARES BENCXHMARK 55 HDCP 1100 Metres
 
 
STAR PAINTER – blundered on jumping.  Following the event trainer M Palmer reported that STAR PAINTER had sustained abrasions to its off hind fetlock.
 
OVERGROWN – after being loaded, broke through the barriers, cantered a short distance, examined by the Club Vet and passed fit to start.
 
CAPITAL CITY – raced wide throughout.
 
NELLIE’S DELIGHT – hung out rounding the home turn.  Near the 100 metres, shifted in hampering AWESOME MORE.  Rider B Cornell was reprimanded under AR137(a) and advised to show greater care.
 
AWESOME MORE – Slow to begin.  Hampered near the 100 metres.
 
ROYAL LADY – began awkwardly then raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
 
Race 3: COLTS, GELDINGS, ENTIRES BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1100 Metres
 
The start of this event was delayed approximately 20 minutes, as QAS ambulance staff attended an on-course patron.
 
LWAZI – blundered on jumping away and lost ground.  Raced wide from the 700 metres.
 
WE’RE READY – jumped out at the start and bumped PITBULL.
 
GREAT GRATS – shifted out abruptly under pressure inside the 100 metres.
 
TAHITIAN PRINCE – slow to begin.  Suffered abrasions to the near hind leg after being galloped on near the 500 metres.
 
PITBULL – bumped at the start.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Had a tendency to lay in under pressure near the 500 metres.
 
 
 
Race 4: CLASS B HDCP 1650 Metres
 
Immediately following the event the judge advised stewards that there had been a malfunction with the photo finish image for this race.
Correct weight was then delayed to allow B Hudson, trainer of second place-getter BALLINA BAY, to review the video replay of the finish at which point Mr Hudson lodged an objection against the judge's placings of first and second.  Submissions were tabled from Mr Hudson, also from judge Mr P Chilton and Mr B Robinson, trainer of first-placed JOURNALIST. In considering all evidence presented, and acknowledging the provisions available to them under AR156, stewards confirmed the judge’s placings of No.2 JOURNALIST 1st, No.5 BALLINA BAY 2nd and No.1 EKSPRESS KING 3rd. 

ROCKY HALO – began very awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced and losing ground at the start.
 
 

 
 
Race 5: BENCHMARK 60 HDCP 1400 Metres
 
The start of this event was delayed when SECRET CODE required farrier attention.  Correct weight was delayed to allow A Badger, rider of fourth-placegetter STROMBO, to view the photo finish image.  After doing so, correct weight was declared on judge's placings.
 
KAPHNI – raced wide from the 800 metres.
 
OMISSION – made the home turn wide.
