GENERAL
 
Jockey C Eaton did not ride at today’s meeting due to illness. Jky Eaton was advised she would require a medical certificate prior to returning to race riding.  All replacement riders as per the Stewards Summary. Jockey B Richardson contacted Stewards to advise that she would be late on course for her ride in Race 1 due to personal issues. She was able to for fill the remainder of her rides at today’s program. Rider replacement as per the Stewards Summary.
 
 
 
Race 1: WR CRANES/ KELLCO LIVESTOCK/NUTRIEN AG SOLUTIONS MAIDEN PLATE HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
Trainer Mr W Baker Stable Representative J Brand presented his horses HE IS LUCKY and REGULATION to this race wearing bit lifters. Further REGULATION he had presented with blinkers on and a tongue tie off.  Stewards noted that a request for a gear change on REGULATION was submitted on the 5/1/2023 after Jockey declarations and had not approved by Stewards. This was reaffirmed to Mr Baker by Stewards on the 6/1/2023.Stable Representative J Brand advised Stewards that Mr Baker wanted the horses to race with their respective gear changes today. Stewards granted the request then acting under the provision of AR206(1) fined Mr W Baker the sum of $200 for presenting his horses to the meeting with unapproved gear.
 
The start of the race was delayed due to HE IS LUCKY proving difficult to load.
 
CELTIC PRIDE- Began awkwardly then raced at the rear of the field for the majority and travelled wide with no cover for the majority of the event.
 
HE IS LUCKY- Stewards permitted Appr Jky T Leslight to replace Jky B Richardson as no other senior rider was available. Proved difficult to load, Trainer Mr W Baker was later advised a Warning would be placed on the gelding.  Began awkwardly.
 
ODD’N’ELLE- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. On returning to the mounting yard the horse was reportedly to have signs of blood on the outside of its muzzle. A post-race veterinarian examination was undertaken. This examination revealed that the bleeding was attributed to an upper incisor had been dislodged after making contact with the barrier on jumping with no further bleeding detected. The horse post-race exhibited no ill effects from the incident.
 
REGULATION- Began awkwardly.
 
THE EDITORIAL- Dipped at the start.
 
VICTORY LIGHTS- Began awkwardly then raced keenly during the early stages of the event.
 
VIKING VICKY- At the 800m was momentarily held up.
 
 
Race 2: BMO CLASS B HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
 
MR LANNIGAN- Stewards spoke with Trainer M Currie regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MR LANNIGAN at this meeting. Mr Currie advised that the gelding hadn’t raced for almost a month, he had been working well and Mr Currie said he was happy with the run. Stewards noted M Currie’s comments.
 
BORDEAUX HOPPER- Made contact with a post when leaving the mounting yard enroute the barriers. Pre- race veterinary examination no abnormalities detected and passed fit to race. Began awkwardly with its head in the air, made contact with the inside running rail approaching the 700m point.
 
MR WHITTINGTON- B APPO- Jky B Appo reported to stewards that he was unable to weigh in at the allocated weight and would be +.5kg. Stewards permitted Jky Appo to ride MR WHITTINGTON However, under the provision of AR 190 (3) Jky B Appo was fined the sum of $200 by Stewards for accepting a ride when overweight. Began awkwardly making contact with the outside barrier gate.
 
EMIRATE PRIDE- Raced wide with no cover for the majority
 
Race 3:  BRAZIER TRAILERS BENCMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 METRES
 
ELIZANO- Was slow to begin.
 
EXCEED ROCK- Was slow on beginning and bumped with KING BART shortly after the start. Raced wide with no cover for the majority.
 
AT THE HELM- Stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) fined Trainer Mr Wayne Baker the sum of $100 for a late declaration of a rider. Stable representative J Brand was advised by Stewards of the decision.
 
MIRALIE- Dipped at the start. Ran out when entering the home turn and raced wide from that point.
 
CHESTERS ANGEL- Began awkwardly.
 
KING BART- Jumped out and bumped EXCEED ROCK shortly after the start. Appr Jky S Champkin reported to Stewards that the gelding had hung out for the majority of the event and failed to improve despite her best efforts to improve. Stewards noted Appr Champkin’s comments.
 
 
Race 4: DALBY RURAL SUPPLIES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRES
 
BEYONDTASTIC- Due to the gelding racing at the Lockyer Valley RC Meeting held on the 5 January 2023 the horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian. This examination revealed no abnormalities and subsequently passed fit to race at today’s meeting. Was tightened for room shortly after beginning as a result of OUTBACK PLAYBOY jumping outward and TAKERU jumping in at the start losing some ground, then raced at the rear of the field for some distance. Began to improve from the 400m point and ran on well over the concluding stages.
 
EMPEROR TEIO- Bumped by another runner when approaching the 850m point and began racing wide during the middle stages. Ran off when entering the home turn and raced wide from that point.
 
OUTBACK PLAYBOY- Began awkwardly jumping outward tightening another runner to the outside.
 
TAKERU- Jumped in at the start.
 
LOUD ATTRACTION- Blundered at the start.
 
SIZZLELOVER- After hearing a submission from Trainer Mr D Leggatt stewards allowed Trainer Mr D Leggatt to replace Jky C Eaton with Appr Jky L Sykes. Made heavy contact with the mounting yard gate enroute to the barriers. A pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken and found mild muscle swelling to the right thigh muscle with some lameness. Stewards acting on Vet advice declared the horse a late scratching at 3.45pm prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 3.45pm:
 
0c in the dollar for the win, 6c in the dollar for the place on the winner-OUTBACK PLAYBOY
7c in the dollar for the 2nd place runner- BEYONDTASTIC
4c in the dollar for the 3rd place runner- DABILDOYA
 
SPILLA- Began awkwardly then raced greenly during the early stages, bumped EMPERORE TEIO when approaching the 850m point. at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Ran out when entering the home turn and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
 
Race 5: GILLILAND LIVESTOCK MARKETING BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1000 METRES
 
BLADE MAN- Tightened for room and bumped by another runner at the start.
 
ZENIA- Bumped by another runner at approximately the 100m point.
 
CLOGS- Due to the horse not racing for some time a pre-race veterinary examination was undertaken and subsequently passed fit to start. Laid in under pressure bumping ZENIA over the concluding stages of the event.
 
SCHNITZ CREEK- Began awkwardly and made contact with the barrier gate at the start, then bumped BLADE MAN shortly after the start.
 
JONDY ROCKET- Slow to begin then blundered shortly after beginning. A delay in the declaration of correct weight was made to view the patrol footage available. Stewards observed that the allocated barrier stall to JONDY ROCKET may have been marginally slow. Stewards spoke with Appr Jky L Sykes and Trainer Mr J Thomas with the outcome being that Mr Thomas did not wish to make application for the horse to be declared a non-runner. Stewards subsequently declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.
 
VALAR DOHAERIS- Began awkwardly and then raced keenly shortly after the start for a short distance before being restrained.
