General

Trainer T. Austin was fined the total of $500 for late declaration of riders over both meetings. (LR 67). Due to the unavailability of communications, Mr Austin’s reason for the late scratchings of STYLISH SON (Race 4) and VALHALLA MIST, INSTINCTIVE MOVE and SKY DISK (Race 6) at 10.15am was accepted.

When Apprentice H Phillips would not claim her full allowance in Races 2, 4 and 5, replacement riders were substituted and a fine of $300 was imposed. (AR 92(12))

Race 1: Bundy Diesel Specialists QTIS Added Stakes Maiden Plate- 1000 metres

REAL KING- Began awkwardly and lost some ground.

DAY LILLY- Jumped awkwardly in.

WORLD MUSIC- Slow to begin. Regarding its performance, jockey reported that after the start, had failed to muster speed as expected and did not appreciate the kickback.

Race 2: Veolia Class B Handicap- 1000 metres

MILKO- At the start, made contact with MISS NOVELTY.

SHOP FRAAR’N WIDE- Trainer viewed the photo finish print and the rider viewed the available patrol film prior to correct weight. Trainer satisfied with the judge’s placings and rider did not proceed with any objection. Shifted in shortly after the start and tightened YOUBETIWIN and CHEEKY EXPRESS.

YOUBETIWIN- As the gelding had not started since August 2013, underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection and cleared to start.

DUKE’S DELIGHT- Shortly after the start, steadied from the heels of GOLD BONANZA which lay in.

PINCQAR- From near the 800 metres, raced ungenerously until near the 400 metres, where it appeared to dip.

Race 3: Birdsville Roadhouse Class 5 Handicap- 1200 metres

MY MOVE- Threw its head in the air on jumping and lost some ground.

SHANTUNG BOXER- Stewards were advised that the gelding had suffered a stone bruise in its off fore hoof the week prior. Inspected by the vet and cleared to take its place in the field.

TENMOREGRAND- Slow to begin.

THUNDA COOKIE- Slow to begin.

Race 4: Birdsville Hotel Class 1 Handicap- 1200 metres

OUR MAGIC MADGE- Stewards observed that the mare had suffered an injury to its off fore hoof from its previous start. Inspected by the vet and cleared to take its place in the field.

KHAPTIVATA- On arrival at the barriers, underwent a veterinary inspection. Stewards subsequently declared the horse a late scratching at 3.04pm on veterinary advice when discharge from both nostrils attributed to a virus. Prior to declaration of correct weight, all bets on this runner were ordered to be refunded with deduction of 16 cents the win and 14 cents the place to apply to successful wagers.

YOU AND ME- Slow to begin.

NO INVOLVMENT- Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously and appeared to resent kickback.

LUCKY SKY- Slow to begin.

PINTERRA- Began awkwardly.

DOLLARISE- Near the 400 metres, hung out slightly and made contact with PINTERRA.

Race 5: Road Tech Marine Open Handicap- 1000 metres

KBENGAL- A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any abnormalities.

OBSERVER- On return to the enclosure, it was observed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. As this was the second bleeding attack, the gelding would now be barred from racing.

Race 6: Landmark/ CGU Class 3 Plate- 1400 metres

MAN OF MELODY- At the start, jumped in the air.

MONBAZILLAC- Near the 500 metres, while being ridden along, become awkward on the heels of another runner and shifted out.
