Race 1: Glencore Abbot Point Deep Water Coal Terminal Maiden Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – HUSSENRUN 2nd – MOUNTAIN LANE 3rd – RAINING DOLLARS 4th – BURNING PAIN
HAPPY TO BE HERE – Hampered at the start.
HUSSENRUN – Shifted in abruptly at the start.
DINKUM’S DARLIN – Slow to begin.
MOUNTAIN LANE – When the pace steadied in the middle stages commenced to overrace and had to be steadied off heels.
RAINING DOLLARS – Rounding the first turn near the 700m hung out and got its head up.
STRADATINI – When questioned regarding the poor performance jockey F Edwards reported that the gelding which was having its first start in the area never travelled comfortably throughout which he attributed to the firm track conditions. He said that even after travelling wide in the early stages he expected the gelding to run on in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 2: Glencore Safecoal Open Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – STARLISTIC 2nd – MIN MIN MAN 3rd – MISHANI GLADIATOR 4th – SNITZEM
MIN MIN MAN – Hung in over the final 200m.
Race 3: Glencore Bowen Basin QTIS Three-Years Old Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – ROCKETTE ROCKET 2nd – MISHANI ISTANA 3rd – BAMBY 4th – COMPULSIVE ROCKET
MISHANI ISTANA – When questioned jockey G Watson explained that he had been instructed to ride the filly in a forward position however after being slow to begin MISHANI ISTANA failed to stretch out which he attributed to the firm track. He added that when placed under pressure in the straight the filly ran on well.
Race 4: Glencore Xstrata Benchmark 60 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – MR RAINMAKER 2nd – OUR HUSSLER 3rd – SHERIDAN 4th – WE FOUND IT
HEART OF STRENGTH – On return to scale jockey G Watson reported that his mount was slow to begin then failed to stretch out from the 800m and was disappointing.
Race 5: Glencore Community Partnership Class 3 Plate 1470 metres:
1st – BEG PARDON 2nd – ELOVACHILL 3rd – MAGGIE’S PAL 4th – SHIKRA
ELOVACHILL – Overraced in the middle stages and refused to settle.
MAKOSSA – Raced wide from the 1200m.
